Interesting lack of The Master, and The Dark Knight Rises taking the populist spot from The Avengers, This is 40, and Ted.
And surprised Django made it in despite Basterds missing out a few years ago, and Les Mis making it as an “American Production”December 10, 2012 at 11:48 am #78004
Doesn’t surprise me. The Master will squeak in the Oscars line-up with the very last slot. If J. Edgar got in last year, I’m not surprised by this list at all.December 10, 2012 at 11:56 am #78005
Life of Pi mention. Holla!December 10, 2012 at 1:20 pm #78006
So…do they consider Cloud Atlas a German production?? This almost makes me want to “unregister” with them. Still, some great choices up there, which I am hesitant to believe they will survive with Oscar.December 10, 2012 at 1:30 pm #78007

Well, Tom Tykwer is a german director and the film is the most expensive “german” movie. At least the german newspaper claim that.December 10, 2012 at 1:32 pm #78008
The Dark Knight Rises FTW.December 10, 2012 at 6:21 pm #78009
I’ll be the first to say that I think this at least slightly boosts The Dark Knight Rises Best Picture odds. I still wouldn’t say that it is likely of a nomination, but I am going to put it in my tenth position, as an outside chance.December 10, 2012 at 6:26 pm #78010
TDKR, as it should be, in the top 10. Sub out Django and Pi and put Hunger Games and Avengers in their place and it would be pitch-perfect.December 10, 2012 at 6:50 pm #78011
Yay for The Dark Knight Rises inclusion! Skyfall should be replaced with….something else.December 10, 2012 at 9:42 pm #78012

PaulHan, have you seen Skyfall? That’s a movie you could pimp and perhaps see make the Best Picture lineup.
