By David Lowrey, this film premiered at Sundance, and won a prize or two. I’m not so sure about its Oscar chances (probably none, since it’s a small film). Rooney Mara, Casey Affleck, and Ben Foster star. Still I’m hoping I get a chance to watch it.
It will be in limited release on August 16th, along with Kick Ass 2 and The Butler , I mean Lee Daniel’s The Butler -_- Is anyone planning to go watch this one?
Also check out this beautiful poster:
I caught this a few months ago – actually pretty decent/quiet film but one of the things I liked about it was that the differences and similarities between the supposed “bad” guys and the protagonist(s) weren’t entirely clear cut. In fact, their motivations were pretty universal, regardless of their positions in life.
The cast is rather good as well.
^ Hmm. Very interesting. Some of the current reviews are saying that there were some distinction of Terrance Malick films. What say you?
Can’t help but think of Malick during the first minutes of the film (Badlands, specifically), but it becomes its own film after the virtual prologue. There’s actually a bit of a French New Wave style to it too.
