This could very easily not work but I thought it might be fun to try it out. I want to perform an award where we vote not for the best snubbed performance of the year, but the best snubbed performance of ALL-TIME.

To keep the list a little bit more confined, only performances that got some precursor attention are eligible, and only performances that DID NOT get academy award nominations. That includes nominations from the four televised precursors, critics awards, or major fesitval awards (Cannes, Berlin, etc.) and performances from this year are eligible. Send me a PM with your top 5 choices in each of the four acting categories. Like most of these awards, you can pick and choose categories to vote for but only vote in ones where you have 5 nominees, and rank them 1-5. I’ll message you back if there’s something wrong with your ballot, but if I don’t just assume I got it.

If I can get enough of a consensus(which I very easily may not) I’ll announce 5 nominees in each category. You can then vote for you’re winner in each category, and then OUT OF THE NOMINEES vote for the best overall snubbed performance.

Again this could yeild no usable results but lets give it a shot! The deadline to send me your nominations is 11:59 PM THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27TH! Let’s see if we can do it!

    Again the categories are:
    Best Snubbed Actor
    Best Snubbed Actress
    Best Snubbed Supporting Actor
    Best Snubbed Supporting Actress

Who wants to bet Cameron Diaz takes supporting actress?

By the way, if this DOESN’T pan out too well, we could always arrange it by decade.

Ellen Burstyn won for “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore”. A good performance. Unfortunately, it deprived Gena Rowlands of a much-deserved Oscar for “Woman Under the Influence” – one of the greatest performances ever committed to film.

I think people need to look back further than just 10 years.  I’m not sure Leo’s really been snubbed…four nominations for his age is fantastic.  There are plenty of other far more egregious cases in the Best Actor category that I’m surprised haven’t been mentioned:

    Best Actor
Gene Hackman, The Conversation (arguably his greatest performance)

Sean Connery (terribly overlooked for his best films), The Name of the Rose (BAFTA winner)
Sean Connery, The Man Who Would Be King
Sean Connery, The Hill (he had a prolific collaboration with Sidney Lumet which no one remembers)

    Jimmy Stewart, Vertigo

Loving the conversation, keep it going! But remember to send me your nomination ballot in a message so I can count it with the others! I might come back to look at the posts here if I need to at the end, but if you want to be sure your votes will be counted just send a quick message with your ranked top 3 in the categories. Thanks guys!
