ZD30 or Argo wins drama, SLP wins comedy, Wreck-It Ralph wins animated, and I don’t know know about those 3 documentaries.
Hope Samsara wins documentary but Sugarman will probably win since it is frontrunner at Oscar.
Nice to see “Ted” up there. It actually deserves the nomination.
Let’s see…..Lincoln and SLP, with a chance for that other ‘edited’ film, Argo.
Animated feature, likely “Ralph”.
Doc: Searching for Sugar Man
Here’s a factor – apart from ZD30 deserving to win on merit, William Goldenberg would win for either it or Argo, but if he wins for ZD30, another ACE member also gets the trophy.
I can see that entering into the thinking of some voters, assuming names are mentioned on the ballot.
(Oscars are different – only names on ballot are those up for acting; all other categories only film title used, except FL film which on its separate ballot lists country and title )
This could be the 1 oscar Argo gets or
the 1 that ZD30 gets…
but usually when an “epic’ style film wins best picture
the editing award goes to that films team
i.e….Gandhi, The Last Emperor, Dances with Wolves
so unless the academy is going with a different film
other than Lincoln…I see Lincoln winning editing…
I’d be willing to bet on that aao.
Editing goes to BP about half the time, but usually when the editing is a key element of the film (Departed, Titanic, LOTR:ROTK, Slumdog, Hurt Locker, even Crash with its multiple story lines). But just as often it goes to a standout example of the craft – Girl w/ the Dragon Tattoo, Bourne Identity, Traffic, The Social Network).
Argo is possible, but side by side ZD30 is much more complicated and expert. Lincoln I suspect is a non-starter unless the field is so divided it wins with default votes for BP.
