People like Damian and some of the other pretentious types around here seem oblivious to the fact that the film will enter the Top 10 Adjusted for Inflation list, probably by the end of the month. Every film in the Top 10 is an absolute classic and memorable film without exception. TFA will fit in nicely with that group of films. In 20 years, people will have forgotten all about disposable flavor of the moment trifles like Spotlight, Carol, The Big Short, Room, The Martian, The Revenant, etc. TFA will live on as a film cherished and watched decades from now.January 6, 2016 at 7:46 pm #206600
Who said anyone was oblivious to this? Cause I sure as hell wasn’t. I find it a bigger accomplish getting Top 10 on that inflation list than being #1 non-inflation, too, so more power to SW.January 6, 2016 at 7:52 pm #206601

It is a safe assumption given how out of touch with reality a lot of posters are around here.January 6, 2016 at 7:56 pm #206602
It was an alright film. I liked it. Happier something finally dethroned that POS Avatar.
If TFA wasn’t a remake – I’d be stanning it hardcore but alas it wasn’t original.January 6, 2016 at 8:11 pm #206603

Perhaps majority of the people who are buying the tickets have not seen or only vaguely remember the OT or just don’t pay attention. Clearly, it’s helping. Tried to love this, but I couldn’t. I don’t hate it either. I will still be watching the sequels with hope that Rian Johnson does a better job. And many fanboys of TFA assured me that many of the glaring plot holes in TFA will be answered in the sequels. If the sequels will be as dumbed down as TFA, however, then I dunno…but for now I’ll cling to that chance that the soul of Star wars is not dead.
