    Wes Anderson Seeking Out
Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Willem Dafoe, Angela Lansbury & More For His Next
    Movie

“Moonrise Kingdom” not only earned Wes
    Anderson
some of the best reviews in years, but has also done extremely well in
limited release, where it’s pulled in $37 million worldwide thus far and has
been cracking the top ten domestically, even though it’s in less than 900
theaters. And it seems he’s very eager to get back behind the cameras.

Twitch reports that the director is approaching an
exciting list of names to appear in his currently untitled ensemble movie, with
phone calls being made to Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Angela Lansbury as well as
previous collaborators Owen Wilson, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum,
    Adrien Brody and Willem Dafoe
. The director hasn’t been shy in talking up the
new movie, revealing through the press rounds for “Moonrise Kingdom”
a few things including: the script is done and it will be Euro based movie; it will
reunite him with Owen Wilson (which seems to be a mere formality at this
point); and one character will be a personal medium. That’s all that’s known
for now, but he’s certainly aiming high for the cast. Also? Angela Freaking
    Lansbury. Awesome.

It’s too early to say when this will shoot as it will
likely depend on all the usual factors — financing/casting/scheduling — but
he won’t be sitting. This fall, Peter Bogdanovich’s “Squirrel To The
Nuts” will go in front of cameras with Anderson and Noam Baumbach
producing. But if you were worried that might get in the way or delay work on
Anderson’s next feature, you can put those fears aside.

Acting oscar, honorary oscar, AND I wouldn’t even mind if they changed the design of the statuette to be a replica of her.

Not to be a wet blanket, but has any performance for an Anderson film ever been Oscar nominated? Bill Murray swept the three top critics’ groups for Rushmore and still couldn’t get a nomination.

The acting in Anderson’s films is terrific. But Oscar nominations for acting have little to do with merit or for an ensemble cast presenting a director’s idiosyncratic vision – actually, those cast member usually get Oscar snubs for that. And likely Lansbury would be in the same position.

And just because critics went ga-ga over MOONRISE KINDOM
I did NOT..Actually, I thought it was pretty awful, on the same level
of most of his bad attempts..

Miss Lansbury might be sought out..but she is committed to doing
DRIVING MISS DAISY on the road with James earl Jones..
I dont expect her to be in a film any time soon..

    I
agree, the title is silly, especially considering that none of them is even cast yet.
Nevertheless, if the role is right, I can totally see her having another shot at
    winning the gold.
After all I never imagined that never nominated before Christopher
Plummer will get not one, but 2 Oscar nominations (not to mention that he will
win one) while being in his 80’s.

    Ms.
Lansbury has said many times that she want to play the last great film role and
sounds like she finally got her wish. I don’t think she’ll turn it down if the
    part is right.

Now if she could somehow land that 19th Emmy nom and finally pull a Susan Lucci. I can’t believe she now has more of a legit shot at an Oscar than an Emmy.

She has said repeatedly that she and her film career have unfinished business. Would LOVE to see her get a fantastic part in a film.

Murder She Wrote will not be challenging enough to earn her an Oscar nom.
    Emmys, yes, but not Oscar.

Is she going to wear that friggin’ earpiece in her ear to have her lines fed to her like when she’s on stage?

Well, I don’t know about Ms. Lansbury, but apparently Johnny Depp has signed on:

For me, that’s some treat, seeing Landsbury in a film again! I’ll wager Jim Carrey was happy to work with her in his Penguin movie….
