I guess it’s 2014.
If Anne is going to be the new musical sensation, I can’t wait til she does the Judy Garland/Liza Minnelli biopic.March 15, 2013 at 6:05 pm #94956
I think the next move for musical sensation Anne Hathaway is Gypsy Rose Lee, Elpheba or Cinderella for musical roles.March 15, 2013 at 6:06 pm #94957
The role requires charm.
Whatever her talents, that seems a stretch for her. Not sure if she can sing, but Carey Mulligan would seem closer to the right type.March 15, 2013 at 9:09 pm #94958
Mulligan sang that “New York, New York” song in Shame, though I don’t know how much range the part requires.March 15, 2013 at 9:28 pm #94959
really? another remake??March 16, 2013 at 3:16 am #94960
God save us all.March 16, 2013 at 8:50 am #94962
I hate remakes….. but i think Anne is perfect for this role.March 16, 2013 at 9:17 am #94963
What happened to the planned movie that had Emma Thompson as a screenwriter and Carey Mulligan as Eliza Doolittle?
I think Anne Hathaway will do just fine with this role if she gets the accent right. Wasn’t she criticized for her British accent in One Day?March 16, 2013 at 9:45 am #94964
Her accent was awful in “One Day” and “Becoming Jane”. Give this role to some British girl for God’s sake.March 16, 2013 at 7:57 pm #94965
She was very good with accent in Becoming Jane, One Day… not so much.
I love the MUSICAL and the movie is classic, but it’s a classic that I wouldn’t mind been revisited, especially because I’m not a big fan of Hepburn in this role.March 16, 2013 at 8:43 pm #94966
I just watched “My Fair Lady” a couple months ago. I guess I wouldn’t mind the updating, but I think that Carey Mulligan or Keira Knightley would have made better fits as Eliza than Anne Hathaway would. That could go so wrong so easily. What’s really going to make or break this is who gets Rex Harrison’s role. Hope they cast that well if this is happening.March 17, 2013 at 7:46 am #94967
Can you imagine if they would go for Hugh Jackman??March 17, 2013 at 7:53 am #94968
I actually see much at least from the look of Audrey in Anne, so the casting doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. I love the Original very much and I don’t need a remake, but since when did that stop Hollywood to do so anyway?
Though it will be hard for Anne. Still people seem to dislike her since her win and now she plays a very famous Audrey role… I personally think she can pull it off, but many will love to hate her anyway.
