The email said we would get one but I never got it. If I’m not the only one, I’d say this could be a factor in predicting Supporting Actress for Rooney Mara.

How many of them will actually wait till the last day to vote though?

Lol no more Carol DVDs coming. Digital only. Sheesh, Harvey is a mess this year.

    Harvey this year:
    No Best Picture nomination for
Carol despite six nominations and highest score of the year on Metacritic.
No SAG ensemble nomination for a movie called “The Hateful Eight” and no name-check nomination for Quentin Tarantino in screenplay.
Macbeth is a complete non-starter, even for minor things like at the Costume Designers Guild Awards.

The Danish Girl was sent to the full SAG membership. That could give this race to Vikander. No Carol DVD. And, as I recall, no Steve Jobs DVD either … I’m a SAG voter, but I don’t recall if Hateful 8 was sent. I got a screener, but I don’t recall if it was a result of SAG or not … Who knows for sure?

Tom, aren’t you supposed to be an actor to vote for SAG?

I got a Steve Jobs DVD thru SAG but no Hateful Eight or Carol.

SAG just sent an email about two hours ago saying Carol is not coming on DVD afterall but they sent a digital code so we can watch it online. Such confusion!!!

Yes, I just got the Steve Jobs DVD today — it came bundled with Straight Outta Compton from Universal (in a SAG envelope). Yikes – this is rather close to the voting deadline! In fact, I already voted.

Seabel — No, you no longer have to be an actor to vote for SAG Awards. I’m a member of AFTRA because I do so many TV appearances. Some of those are for pay so, when that happens, AFTRA swoops in and forces you to join so that they get their cut of union dues. I tried to put my old AFTRA membership on hold a few times (you’re never allowed to just quit), but the union always catches me and forces me to reactivate it. Since AFTRA merged with SAG, I got swept up in the marriage and so now I’m a SAG voter! Isn’t that CRAZY?

I used to try to keep a professional separation. For example, I refused to join Critics Choice voting groups (TV and film) even though most other Oscar bloggers belong. I didn’t want to report on a group that I belonged to. But now that I’m forced to be part of the SAG/AFTRA, I just threw in the towel, said WTF and joined Critics’ Choice, too. I’m done fighting. I’ve been given a complimentary membership in the Razzies, too, so now I can vote for those as well.

Yeah, no Carol DVD for me. Why would we get H8 screeners though? It isn’t nominated at SAG.

But I’m all voted anyways! Spotlight, Fassbender, Larson, McAdams, and Rylance for the win!

Ugh. Of all the years for Harvey to flop. Does this pretty much rule out a Rooney Mara win?

…for SAG, maybe. But it shouldn’t matter at the Oscar.
I still don’t believe SAG voters are always aware of the content they vote anyway. They go with the flow. The question is which way the flow will end up this year.
If it comes to that; Mara as an actress who’s appeared in 3 Oscar nominated movies in recent memory, is a more familiar name than the Swedish gf of Fass.

    True Emmy Runner.

Mara is more well known. That could help.

The Sag voting period has been really short this year. The time from when DVDs arrived and the deadline seem much closer than they have in the past.  I think a lot of people simply won’t have time to watch stuff so may vote in more of a predicting mode. (but sadly haven’t all other awards surrendered their individuality to predicting? Look how the BAFTAS used to be. They just used to award their own tastes. Rosanna Arquette in Desperatly Seeking Susan for example)

As of the SAG – who did you vote for the win, Sir? 🙂

If anyone in SAG wants to reveal who they voted for it’d be greatly appreciated. 🙂
