Of those, McKellen. But Nick Nolte is even better.

Nick Nolte for Affliction easily tops them all, but from your list Norton.

McKellen is the best, followed by Norton and then by Nolte.

I voted for Norton, but the only one I don’t love on that list is Hanks.

He was good in Affliction, but I just felt that these 5 were better. If I had to take anyone out, I’d probably take out Jeff Bridges and I had to have 6 nominations, I would definitely nominate Nick Nolte.

Hard to believe Benigni won. I don’t even remember that being a surprise. He’d won SAG and seemed like a likely win.

I only saw the film once years ago.

I don’t even remember how he was in the film. What do you think? Was he that bad or did his antics and the fact he barely ever did anything else make him a disliked winner?

Again great list of nominees with four of them making my personal list although I would nominate Phillip Seymour Hoffman over Tom Hanks. For me Ian McKellen is the pick of that year. It doesn’t get better in 1998 than McKellen in Gods and Monsters and the fact he and many great male performances were looked over that year for Benigni is such a crime.

Roberto Benigni. Of Course. He won, and that is not a crime. That is a recognition of the best performance of this year. Sorry for those who think otherwise.

What the fuck is this? Either give us the actual five nominees or at least ten people to choose from. This poll is some BS. Anyway it’s all about Sir Ian for me. Roberto Begnini’s win is for me TOP10 worst wins ever. This performance should have been considered for Razzie not fucking Oscar.

    A Razzie ? We weren’t seeing the same performance…
