Predicting Negga. I consciously believe it’s Stone’s to lose, but Huppert and Negga represent exciting alternatives to her. While giving it to either Portman or Streep is adding to a previous winner’s bundle.

I hope for surprises. We need those huge moments when people rise from their seats, confident of winning, and then sit down again. We need Joan Crawfords and we need the biggest robberies since Brink’s. That’s why we are here.

But I’d be happy with anyone winning.

Wouldn’t it be worse for you in the long-term with her winning possibly undermining Viola’s lead narrative in the future?

How racist is the industry that less than a handful of nonwhite actresses can win in Best Actress? Someone else beating Davis to the punch for number two shouldn’t ruin her chances of being the first black actress to become a multiple winner.

Viola Davis will join Shelley Winters and Dianne Wiest as double best supporting actress winner. Mark my words.

Either that or no more Oscars for her. She’s that age that Academy voters do not go for in Best Leading Actress category. Unless you’ve never won Oscar and you have to be mighty overdue for it. Only two women won that category in that age.

Things are slowly changing. She can always win another in her sixties.

Not gonna happen. There will be another black leading actress in the next ten years but it won’t be her. It’ll be another hot young thing that voters could jerk off to. But this time she’ll be ebony.

I’m sticking with Huppert. Open for a Negga surprise.

I honestly enjoyed all of the nominees. I have seen them all. Portman was incredible. I’ve enjoyed Streep as well. I think she was better in FFJ than she was in Iron Lady. I was nervous about Emma due to the hate on here, but she was incredible. Well deserved nominee.

    But this is Huppert’s Award…
