    The acting races are being discussed so I guess we can talk about some of the other categories too. 

    I just saw The Water Diviner the other day and it is gorgeous. Unless he has something in the can finished, this is Andrew Lesnie’s final film after his passing just last week so could that help his case? It helped Conrad Hall in 2002 for a win for Road to Perdition. I hope it is remembered and also pushed for the Oscar season

    So far this year my two favorites in this category are Rob Hardy for ‘Ex Machina’, making great use of light, shadows, and glass in a claustrophobic environment (and the few outside shots are gorgeous), and Yorick le Saux for ‘Clouds of Sils Maria’.

    For “Pan”, Seamus McGarvey is reteaming with Joe Wright. Seamus got nominations for Anna Karenina and Atonement both of which Joe Wright directed.
