Pick your choice for the best director of last year. Here are my nominees, my favorite directors of 2015. Also, I wanted to put in the list Tom Hopper – The Danish Girl, Adam McKay – The Big Short and Justin Kurzel – MacBeth.
I go with George Miller for Mad Max : Fury Road.
You can discuss of your choice, and say if you had voted for a director which isn’t in the list.April 3, 2016 at 3:44 am #661749
George Miller by miles.April 3, 2016 at 8:40 am #661764
Haynes did a picture perfect job, and he would have deserved the trophy for his career as well. Same goes for Miller of course, but Carol touched me more on a personal level so I had to vote for Haynes.April 3, 2016 at 12:21 pm #661794
I would have voted for Adam McKay- The Big Short, but George Miller was by far the best of those included in the poll above, so he got my vote.April 3, 2016 at 4:08 pm #661820
Miller is the obvious answer and in 20 years that will be even clearer.April 3, 2016 at 4:41 pm #661834

Come on. Haynes will clearly at least give Miller a run for his historical hindsight money. I think they’ll be seen more or less equally.
I’m guessing Carol will be seen as a “minor Haynes”. I could be wrong, obviously.April 3, 2016 at 5:18 pm #661841
Miller, though Abrahamson did a really marvelous job too. A stellar year in filmmaking.April 3, 2016 at 6:54 pm #661860
I think Carol takes the best of several movies that came before it, and puts it together in a way that works very well. I think it will be remembered as a good movie, but not a classic. I think movies like The Big Short, Room, and Son of Saul were more innovative, imho.April 3, 2016 at 10:01 pm #661873
No Pete Docter?
