I’m not asking about the best performances, but the best CHARACTERS of the last year in cinema.
The characters that had you grinning with joy, had you hiding behind the sofa in fear, or had you falling in love with.
Mowgli, Chiron, Kathrin Johnson, Stephen Strange, T’challa, Troy Maxim, Kathryn Hahn’s character in Bad Moms
Mia – La La Land
She just feels like an instantly classic cinema character. Completely charming, yet so grounded in reality. You can empathise with her from second one until the end credits.
Michele Leblanc – Elle
Sensuality for days. Yet so much intrigue and a lot left unknown about her makes you pine to learn even more about her – you get why everyone around her falls for her in one way or another.
Abbott and Costello – Arrival
Winfried aka Toni Erdmann. He was one of the funniest and most memorable characters I have ever seen.
Michèle Leblanc – Elle
Lady Hideko – The Handmaiden
Mr. Fuzzypants – Nine Lives

Mary Jackson in Hidden Figures
William Traynor in Me Before You
Sam Wilson (Falcon) in Captain America: Civil War
