We’re already more than halfway through the decade since 2015 is actually the sixth year since 2010. But of all the films that have been released so far since the start of this decade, which are the best, and how many of those do you think will survive another five years to be your favorite of these 10 years?
For me, just the last two years have been loaded with films that I think might make my list of the decade’s best.
From 2014, I’m fairly confident “Interstellar” will be among my top 10 favorites (a divisive pick, sort of like “A.I.,” which was in my top 10 for the 2000s).
And 2013 was so insanely strong for film that my top four from that year might all make my list of the best of the decade: “12 Years a Slave,” “Stories We Tell,” “The Act of Killing,” and “Gravity.”
Other than that, “Dear White People,” “Amour,” “Poetry,” and “Melancholia” are standouts for me.
Of the films I’ve seen this year so far, “Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem” and “The Last Five Years” have the potential to be decaders for me.
Funny, 2010 doesn’t have any titles that I’d be quite as rapturously enthusiastic about, even though that year had a film I’m sure will be on others’ lists: “The Social Network.”August 22, 2015 at 8:08 pm #192752
I’ll start off by going by my picks for best film of each year:
2010-The Social Network
2013-Blue Is The Warmest Color
2015-Inside Out* (so far)
Of those six, the three I could imagine making their way to a final top 10 for the decade are Blue Is The Warmest Color, Birdman, and The Social Network. The Social Network is already one of my overall favorites and Blue Is The Warmest Color is one of the best love stories in recent memory. I also agree that 2013 was perhaps the best year of the decade so far. I could picture some of my top five films from that year, like “Place Beyond The Pines” and “Short Term 12”, making my final top 10.August 22, 2015 at 10:05 pm #192753
Upstream Color, Her, The Master, Inception, Enemy, Whiplash, Drive and Inside Out.
Those definitely gonna try to get into the list when the time comes while some other favorites could grow in the next years.
