basically you vote for the best nominated performance of the actor in the poll.

    Michelle’s Oscar nominated performances are…

best supporting actress – Dangerous Liaisons 1988

best leading actress – The Fabulous Baker Boys 1989

best leading actress- Love Field 1992

I love the sound of this.

The Fabulous Baker Boys gets my pick.

Her performance in Batman Returns should have been nominated and would have been my pick.

In Dangerous Liasons and The Fabulous Baker Boys she broke my heart but my choice is Batman Returns, wonderful and extremely sexy performance.

Dangerous Liaisons but I would also included her delicious performance in Hairspray as Velma Von Tussle

I agree with that. Her performance in Hairspray is quite honestly the new standard of Velma’s when producing a Hairspray production

I´ve found that people adore her around this forums. Wonder why. She is not precisely iconic, hasn´t done anything worthy in like 2 decades…I´ve personally always found her very mehhh, aside from Batman…

I was pretty impressed with Hairspray (kind of a comeback) and White Oleander.  Of the three nominations, I’d have to go with Liaisons becuase of the quality of the film, but she would still have been my fourth choice that year.

You should see White Oleander, it’s a really weird movie but imo she’s win worthy in.

Unfortunately i haven’t actually seen any of her nominated performances, but i’ve seen plenty non-nominated ones that she’s amazing in. Holding out hope for Michael Keaton style comeback (Her and Winona Ryder. Sorry I just watched Age of Innocence and they’re both amazing in that movie)

Absolutely completely robbed of a nomination and win for White Oleander. I thought she had a fighting chance to get in when she got the SAG nom. To know that Catherine Zeta-Jones won for Chicago when Pfeiffer wasn’t even nominated for White Oleander really stings. The feeling is similar to Kim Basinger winning for L.A. Confidential when Sigourney Weaver, coming in with a Globe nom and BAFTA win, wasn’t even nominated for The Ice Storm. As for her Oscar nominated performances, she should have won for The Fabulous Baker Boys. Little did voters know that in just two years Jessica Tandy would have Fried Green Tomatoes.

Additional kicks in the gut when it comes to Pfeiffer is knowing she turned down so many roles, many that garnered Oscar noms and wins for the actress that took the role: Pretty Woman (Julia Roberts), The Silence of the Lambs (Jodie Foster), Thelma & Louise (Geena Davis), Lorenzo’s Oil (Susan Sarandon), Mystic River (Marcia Gay Harden), and now Still Alice (Julianne Moore). And those are just the roles that Oscar recognized.

I’ll go off the menu and mention her in Scarface. She’s the best part of that film. Then, Married to the Mob, where again she flexes her acting chops.

Michelle, is so cool. She delivers in all of her films.

    BABYPOOK,

I couldn’t agree more. I was just thinking the same thing. She killed in “Scareface “. When I saw her work
in the movie I remember thinking ” Wow, a gorgeous blond besides Jessica Lange that can really act “
For me, Michelle’s crowning achievement is “Scarface “.

Whenever I am scanning, and Scarface is on, I can sit through a million “say hello to my little friend” ‘s just to see Michelle tell Pacino exactly what she thinks. It’s a Beatrice Straight moment, and on a personal level, one which I enjoy more, because she reacts exactly the way I would in a similar situation.

She has turned down some truly iconic roles over the last thirty years. I’ve always wondered why. Aside from being one of the most freakishly beautiful women in the world, she is quite talented and would have excelled. She clearly has little to no interest in working that much, if at all.
