Gotta go with Rabbit Hole! Truly a heart-wrenching performance!

Her career best is still Birth, imo. Looking back I am surprised how little traction that unforgettable performance generated.

Had to go with Rabbite Hole. Amazing performance that could have won had it not been against Natalie Portman.

I adore her performance in Moulin Rouge! It should have won. BUT I also ADORE her in Rabbit Hole. In a weaker year I would have wanted her to win but Portman was damn good in Black Swan

Rabbit Hole. That year was amazing in terms of Best Leading Actress performances. Nicole Kidman, Annette Bening, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams and non-nominees like Julianne Moore, Lesley Manville, Halle Berry and Hailee Steinfeld. Scratch that, the entire year was amazing. Black Swan, The Social Network, The Kids Are All Right, Animal Kingdom, 127 Hours, Biutiful, Rabbit Hole, Blue Valentine, True Grit, Winter’s Bone? One of the best Oscar races in a long long time! (even though I would rather have The Social Network, David Fincher, Jesse Eisenberg and Jacki Weaver winning than the eventual winners but that’s another story). It was my favorite Oscar year in a very very long time.

And I would give the Oscar to Nicole Kidman but looking back I would also give it to Natalie Portman and Annette Bening. And when I think about it, I remember that we also have the heartwrenching Michelle Williams and the emotionally raw Jennifer Lawrence in the same category and then I want to give Oscars to them too. All 5. They were all tremendous.

Nicole Kidman was STELLAR in Rabbit Hole. Perfect, tragic, brutal role for one of the best actresses of her generation.

I’m glad to see all the love for Rabbit Hole! Such a great film and what a performance. Even with the nomination and all that, I consider that it is somehow an underrated effort.

But my vote goes to Moulin Rouge! Soft spot. Not only fell hard in love in there, but that was a stunning year for her; to me was the moment she raised herself to a new level. In a dreamy line-up, Nicole Kidman must have been a double Lead Actress nominee: Moulin Rouge! AND The Others.

Nicole Kidman is pretty much Oscar-snubbed for every second role of hers. She has many worthy performances in movies such as “To Die For” “Birth” “The Others” “The Paperboy” and several other brilliant achievements.

For the poll, I went with “Rabbit Hole”,  followed by “The Hours”. I need to re-watch the third film, because I don’t remember much of it. Kidman is very great in the former movie, and there is no way that Natalie Portman can top her in “Black Swan”.

It’s truly a shame that someone like Kidman has only three Oscar nominations for her complex and incredibly strong film career. it is a tragedy, actually.

I agree, it’s outrageous she has been nominated only 3 times (Too Die For!).

Voted for Moulin Rouge, because I love this movie and her perfomance as Satine, but I’m not sure I would have voted for her that year (Zellweger and Dench were equally terrific). Virginia and Becca also had a very strong competition (Lane and Portman were my favorites in respective years).

Rabbit Hole. That entire category was so stacked that season. I said it then, and I’ll say it again–every performance nominated in Best Actress could have easily won in any other year. Portman was just unstoppable, and rightfully so.

Of her three nominated performances, Rabbit Hole is her best. I thought the ensemble did a great job, and I would have given nominations to Dianne Wiest in Supporting Actress (she did so much more than Amy Adams in The Fighter and Helena Bonham Carter in The King’s Speech) and Aaron Eckhart in Supporting Actor (taking out Mark Ruffalo for The Kids Are All Right). Unfortunately, Eckhart went Lead, and Miles Teller was Supporting, which potentially cost Eckhart the nomination.

All of this. Finally some middle ground between where I can be cordial to you. Nicole Kidman is a cinematic treasure.

Rabbit Hole is her only nominated performance that would make my top five favorite performances of hers.
