Making predictions this early on always results in disaster, but I think Brolin will be great in Inherent Vice.

Based on what we know of their roles alone I would go with Brolin or Ruffalo, but I would love to see Norton take it.

I’d watch out for Paul Giamatti in Love and Mercy, where he plays crazy psychotherapist Dr. Eugene Landy opposite John Cusack’s Brian Wilson. Sounds pretty baity to me, and Giamatti is the type of respected leading/character actor they like to award in this category.

But who cares if we make super early predictions? We don’t get money doing that and this is supposed to be an awards forum.

AKA, this polls I make suggest the frontrunner/winner, not every nominee.

Sometimes, early predictions are right (Meryl Streep in The Iron Lady, Anne Hathaway in Les Miserables, Daniel Day Lewis in Lincoln, Mo’Nique in Precious…).

I loved him in Get Low. Slow slow release date and few saw it, but I would have happily dumped Oldman, and also Franco and Bardem the year before to make room for him.

Fingers crossed he’ll be in the spotlight soon.

Question: Is Duvall listed here as a potential nominee JUST because of his name or because there’s something baity about the film? Because looking up the film led to me discovering that it’s being directed by the guy who did Wedding Crashers, Fred Claus, and The Change-Up. Even if the film turns out to be good, I’m curious as to what sounds like it would appeal to voters.

Lol! Good question. Still, at least a couple of Oscar winners wanted his part. And Dobkin isnt Dennis Dugan. I’ve seen probably all of his films and they arent bad for what they are. His average adjusted box office is around $100 miliion. And if you look at the cast, it has promise.

    I hope.
