lol Not much to discuss. Nothing is beating Gravity here. It’ll be even more obvious if its the only BP nominee in the group.

Anyone remember when they release the top 10 finalists?

    -Gravity
-The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
    -Iron Man 3
    -Man of Steel
    -Pacific Rim

That’s how I think the Oscars will go.

No one expecting a nomination for Oz the Great and Powerful? It seems like something where the visuals are so vital to the story that it would stand out in voters’ minds.

Well, yes they were. But the reviews weren’t the best (I actually really liked it) and it had a March release, which may hinder its chances. Then again, Alice in Wonderland was in the same boat and it managed to get a nomination.

I really don’t think reviews hinder the chances for candidates in this category. Hereafter, The Golden Compass, Snow White and the Huntsman, Transformers 3, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, and Pearl Harbor all earned nominations without critical acclaim, and Snow White managed it over The Dark Knight Rises.

    Current Predictions:

    1) Gravity
    2) Pacific Rim
    3) The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
    4) Oz the Great and Powerful
    5) The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

    6) Iron Man 3
    7) Ender’s Game
    8) Elysium
    9) Man of Steel
    10) Star Trek Into Darkness

Still, I have my doubts. I think that Oz will benefit more from production design and costume design nominations personally.

Pretty sure it’s Gravity and then four other movies with great visual effects.  But nothing’s touching Gravity here.

You would think Gravity would be a lock for this, just like Life of Pi was last year.
