Which actors have had the best year for appearing in the greatest film/ most acclaimed of that year? For example Spacey 1995 The Ususal Suspects and Se7en.  Or more recently Tom Hardy 2015: The Revenent and Mad Max Fury Road.  Or even Domhnall Gleeson for Brooklyn, The Revenent, and Star Wars TFA, and Ex Machina.

Yeah, Domhnall Gleeson was the first to come to mind with Brooklyn, The Revenant, Star Wars, and also Ex Machina!

Gregory Peck had a great year in 1962, in 2 great movies, “To Kill A Mockingbird” and “Cape Fear,” the former of which won him the Oscar.

Sidney Poitier was on fire on 1967, in “To Sir, With Love,” “Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner,” AND that year’s Best Picture winner, “In The Heat of the Night.”

1994 was Jim Carrey’s breakout year. I remember how he went from being a virtually unknown actor to a superstar. Everyone and their mama knew who Jim Carrey was after that year.

Wasn’t this about actors who appeared in some of the most acclaimed films in a single year not just multiple random films

Kathy Bates (1990) Men Don’t Leave, White Palace, Dick Tracy, Misery.

Offered a role in Darkman. Turned it down because it conflicted with the filming of Misery.

The one that came to my mind right from the start:
2002 – John C. Reilly: Chicago, The Hours, Gangs of New York.
3 Best Picture nominees, Best Supporting Actor nominee for a role in BP winner. Plus The Good Girl.

1952 – Gloria Grahame: The Bad and the Beautiful, Sudden Fear, Macao, The Greatest Show on Earth.

And I can’t believe this one wasn’t mentioned yet:
2011 – Jessica Chastain: The Help, The Tree of Life, Take Shelter. Plus Texas Killing Fields and Coriolanus.

YES!!! 2001-2002 was the peak of Nicole Kidman’s career. Whatever happened afterwards is another story.
