It looks like Carol is off like a rocket in its destined reputation as a classic, Academy be damned. I would have probably chosen Happy Together, myself, but I’m not complaining. I think Weekend, which I also love, is the odd man out in that top 5.

Nice to see ‘Stranger by the Lake’ here.

Transamerica, I Killed My Mother, Pride, Monster (can it be considered LGBT?) and A Single Man are missing imo.

I can agree with Weekend being number two.

Crap. “Carol” was such a mediocore film.

“Summer Storm” is the best, obviously it’s not even on the list.

Worthless list without The Crying Game.

No Latin American films, just one from Almodovar… That’s just for starters. Bad list overall.

It was two sentences actually. But two very true ones. Sorry, I really wanted to love this, but story-wise it was very mediocore and I wasn’t all that impressed by the LEAD performances either. 🙂 Kisses.

I was referring to the second one.
I loved it, but I get that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea… It’s just that people here are really passionate about it, it’s an outrage when someone disagrees.
But I guess people are calmer now that the season is over.

    CAROL

Brokeback Mountain should be outside the top 10.

Weekend is good, but way way way way way too high.

Paris Is Burning should be #2

Stranger by the Lake should be higher.

Rope should be on here. As should The Talented Mr. Ripley.

They clearly left the Q of LGBTQ for a reason.

Story-wise I don’t see that big chemistry between our characters to be honest. Why were they so “dramatic” by this whole thing? I mean they had a nice week and that’s all. That emotional letter scene is probably the weakest of them all – like I cannot be emotionally involved knowing that they just met (another unrealistic issue – I don’t invite strangers to dinner or my home just like that out of no reason, not even if I find them hot, sorry, but maybe that’s just me) and had nothing else but some boring talk and sex. Like no depth, nothing. I’m super disappointed because based on the trailer, I wanted to love this, but for some reason I didn’t. And it’s weird couse Todd & Cate & Rooney are all very close to my heart. I just dunno what happened. 🙂

Well the fully inclusive term is LGBTQIA+. Not that there’s ever been a movie about intersex or asexual people that I’ve ever heard of. Someone alert me if they know of one.

Seems very early for Carol a win a poll like this. Perhaps it really does deserve it. I have to confess I haven’t seen that many queer films, despite being queer myself.

I am a huge fan of Carol and consider it a modern masterpiece without any question, but it is too early to call it the best anything of all time. A film needs to pass the test of time to deserve such laurels.
