The details of the next Bond film were revealed today.

It’s to be titled SPECTRE (Bond fans may recognise the name), with the likes of Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw & Naomie Harris returning alongside Bond himself, Daniel Craig.

Sam Mendes returns to the directors table, with the exact same writing team as Skyfall. Among the new behind the camera team, cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema, whose recent work includes Interstellar & Her. Expect visually stunning work in Spectre.

In front of the camera, Lea Seydoux, who was heavily rumoured, is confirmed, as is Monica Bellucci. (Note: they want to be known as Bond LADIES, not girls.)
Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista is in, while joining the MI6 is Sherlock’s Moriarty, aka Andrew Scott. He was rumoured to be playing the villain, but we will have to wait to see if that comes to fruition.

AND the news we were all waiting for, Christoph Waltz WILL be playing the central villain in the film, no name given to him as yet, but is almost certain to be playing Blofeld!

So, what do we all think of that then?

I’m excited for this. I loved what Mendes did with ‘Skyfall’, and I can’t wait to see what Waltz does as Blofeld (I’m certain that this is who he is).

Is Harris the first Bond girl to appear in back to back movies?

Not a huge fan of the title just yet, but I’m sure it will grow on me. I know it’s the name of Blofeld’s organization, so it seems pretty obvious that Waltz is playing that villain. It will be nice having one of the iconic villains, because we haven’t had any of them in the new Bond films. Maybe we’ll see an appearance of Oddjob or Jaws? Anyway, I’m excited, but that will ramp up to the usual Bond level excitement once I see a trailer.

Eunice Gayston appeared as Sylvia Trench in Dr. No and From Russia With Love. Since then, yes she is the first (unless you count Judi Dench as M).

Ralph Fiennes is great and all, but I’m gonna miss Judi Dench.

Waltz’s character’s name is Oberhauser. Bautista will be playing Mr. Hinx. Sounds like a henchman-type to me.

I am so excited for this I can barely stand it; I’m such a Bond geek. If it’s even half as good as Skyfall, it will still be great. But this cast looks spot-on.

^Yeah, but I still think it’s just a cover-up for Waltz actually playing Blofeld.

I think it could definitely be a red herring, similarly, I can absolutely imagine “Mr.Hinx” being Jaws. Dave Bautista would actually fit that part shockingly well.

As much as i love Monica Bellucci, will she be the oldest bond possible love interest ever?
Funny that Bardem and Waltz both got an oscar for playing villains and now they are the main antagonist.

The main antagonist for Casino Royal is one of the classics, so Blonfeld will not be the first classic villain in the new era.

By they way, which actress will u like to play Tracey Bond? Noone can beat my beloved Diana Rigg… but they might bring her in this movie…

While Le Chiffre is a classic villain because he was in the first novel, Blofeld is a much more classic villain in the Bond film adaptations.

As for Tracy Bond, I’m not sure if she will make an appearance in this film, but if she were going to be, I think someone like Michelle Dockery would be an interesting choice. Nobody already announced for the cast would be a good fit, unless they went off the deep end and made her Monica Belucci. I hope not though, she’s a great character.

Well, hot damn. SPECTRE is back, and very likely Blofeld as well. And if Waltz is indeed playing the mastermind, good on the producers for following up an actor who played an Oscar-winning villain with another that did the same. Maybe Waltz will have better luck at the Oscars, should everything line up, than Bardem did (although the latter did get very close with BFCA, SAG, and BAFTA noms). The rest of additions are great as well (didn’t expect to see Andrew Scott (Moriarty from Sherlock) show up). I certainly hope Spectre lives up to the expectations that were raised by Skyfall.
