Cake’s campaign has started with the release of this hauntingly beautiful poster and two clips featuring Jennifer Aniston/Mamie Gummer and Jennifer Aniston/Felicity Huffman. What do you say? Is it time to predict Jennifer Aniston?

No. The movie has bad to okay reviews and she’s not a Hollywood legend who can sneak in with such a mediocre reception. She need to beat Emily Blunt, Shailene Woodley, Marion Cotillard, Hilary Swank and Amy Adams for the nomination. Woodley is raved. Cotillard is raved. Swank is raved. Adams is Adams. And Blunt can surprise. No way.

I don’t think Aniston can make the final cut with such a bad reviewed movie, but this is the kind of performance that could draw some passion.
Aniston has started her own campaign promoting Horrible Bosses 2 and if the distributor is smart enough she could appear as a last minute game changer in an already boring race (i don’t feel real passion for any of the female perfomances this year).
She’s not a respected actress but Hollywood loves to recognise this against the type roles.
And press would sooo love to see her attending some events, especially considering Angelina Jolie will attend everything this year. This factor (sadly) could create some major buzz for her.
One thing: Cake MUST be submitted as a comedy at The Golden Globes. If it goes drama like The Good Girl did 12 years ago (!) she’s out again.

I just want people to see this damn movie first before saying crap like “NO WAY” or “SHE’S A LOCK”. Who knows? Maybe she will be good. I mean it helps that Horribe Bosses 2 is coming out at the same time to show her range that she can be hilarious but she can also do a more gritty role. I’m optomistic about this and interested in seeing it

lmao, poor Vincelette is being dragged left and right today over his wrong predictions.

as for Jen, even if she doesn’t get a nom, this is awesome and so entertaining. I mean when was the last time someone literally just dropped from the sky into the Oscar race like this?

I mean, she was absolutely amazing, but I think when she started to get attention, it really did surprise many of us. She seemed too good to be true.

I’m still hesitant to predict Aniston. I haven’t seen the film yet myself, and the reviews for the movie are definitely mixed, but obviously the SAG and Globe noms mean she’s a contender. I still have a feeling she’s going to miss out in favor of someone else, ala Daniel Brühl last year, but the fact that there’s no clear cut replacement makes me wonder if she could really pull this off. These past few days took some of the wind out of Cotillard’s sails. Adams, Woodley, and Blunt are non-factors at this point.

Yeah I’m not sold on an Oscar nomination just yet. The Oscars rarely mirror the Globes and SAG 100%. I think Adams, Swank, and Cotillard have a shot at that slot. It’s a shame it won’t be in wide until Jan. 23rd because I think it would help her if the movie was out and alive during the Oscar nominations. It looks really good I love the cast. Kendrick, Macy, Huffman, and Worthington plus Chris Messina, Mamie Gummer, and one of Misty Upham’s final roles.

It’s funny because so far, I’m predicting her just to be safe, yet I feel that Aniston is still pretty vulnerable. I still feel that Cotillard could steal her thunder. Adams and Swank, I wouldn’t hold my breath on.

Aniston’s sudden wave of support shows how strong her chances are (I knew it!). The Globes didn’t nominate her for ratings (Jolie’s Unbroken and Pitt’s Fury were entirely shut out) and the SAG awards don’t really care for that. Plus at the SAG we have actors voting for other actors and that perfectly mirrors the industry support Aniston has right now. They could’ve gone with Cotillard (who they love), Woodley, Blunt or Adams but they chose Aniston. There’s a reason for that: her performance must be really good.
