I have this theory, and would like to know what you think about it…
We know the supporting actor race is very thight.
– Philip Seymour Hoffman is going to get a lot of votes… probabily because he is really the best, won the Critics’ Choiche, and The Master has a lot of supporters who know the only chanche for the film is here…
– Tommy Lee Jones will get a lot of votes too… He’s very respected, has won a lot of critics’ awards… and he’s in Lincoln
– Robert de Niro is Robert de Niro… Hasn’t been nominated for 20 years and is probabily in the most-beloved film by actors…
– Christoph Walz is really a leading actor in Djago, and has just won the Golden Globe…
This brings us to the point in which votes will be spread a lot, and probably 21% could be enough to win… And it brings us to Alan Arkin and my Argo theory.
We know Argo was one of the front-runners before the nominations and it is getting a lot of symphaty right now because of the Affleck-lack-of-nomination-issue… It is going to get A LOT of votes for best picture, but… where else are they going to vote for it to support their best picture choice? For editing of course (and it will probably win there), and maybe even for screenplay (but Lincoln looks far ahead in that category)… I think they are going to go with Arkin too and in this tight race, their votes could be enough and Arkin could really win…
Am I totally insane?
No way in here. This category is WAY too crowded.
Do we need a thread for this? Just say it in the Best Supporting Actor thread.
Arkin? Win another Oscar for his nothing performance in Argo? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA not happening even by the craziest of theories.
never happen..ARGO can still win
best picture, adapted screenplay and editing….even desplat’s score..
Sympathy for Argo????
ah-hahahahaha! The only sympathy I feel is for the people who were actually there. That includes the citizens of Iran, and all Canadians.
It’s the cast including Arkin and Goodman, which makes this ‘film’ bearable.
