There it is Nikolay. He is the wrath of Loki, Poseidon. God of the Oceans, storms, horses, earthquakes.January 26, 2013 at 6:57 pm #88873
Who should play him in a biopic? 😉January 26, 2013 at 6:58 pm #88874
Weinstein is a studio head (Miramax and The Weinstein Company) and major Oscar campaigner.. Seldomly, from my understanding, does he creatively produce. He purchases a lot of films from festivals, and occasionally puts up the money to finance certain films (thus receiving the Executive Producer credit). He is a business man, not an artist (but a damn good one).January 26, 2013 at 7:47 pm #88875

Quentin Tarantino on Harvey Weinstein: “As far as I’m concerned, he’s the only game in town.”January 26, 2013 at 9:32 pm #88879

Harvey has already been in all three Lord of the Rings films, and they snubbed him.January 26, 2013 at 10:56 pm #88881
Harvey Weinstein is a film [executive] producer and the owner of The Weinstein Company (commonly referred to here as either TWC or simply Weinstein). He used to work as a producer/marketer for Miramax before starting TWC with his brother Bob. For his entire career he’s been a hardcore Oscar campaigner and has yielded pretty impressive results despite the fact that some of the films he has pushed weren’t/aren’t even worthy of being released in theaters. Harvey’s methods have been questionable and have been questioned, with some claiming that he uses bribery and/or “calls in favors” to get his films votes (Jennifer Lawrence joked about this in her Golden Globe speech, thanking him for “killing whoever he needed to kill” to get her the award). Some also claim that her deliberately attacks films that he sees as Oscar competition, and some posters here think he is behind the Zero Dark Thirty smear campaign. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if he is a member here. Directors who work with Harvey once tend to stay with Harvey, unless another studio/distributor offers more money.
Harvey is directly responsible for the blasphemous Best Picture wins of Shakespeare in Love and The King’s Speech, both of which were the WORST (yes, THE WORST) of all of the films nominated in their respective years. Basically, watching his every move is a must for Oscar-predictors everywhere. He is very unpopular on these boards because he gets shit done.
Bruce Wayne is Batman? Nope. Harvey Weinstein is.
Psy sang Gangnam Style? Nope. Harvey Weinstein did.
Hitler commited suicide? Nope. Harvey Weinstein killed him.
Hope this answered your question.January 26, 2013 at 11:08 pm #88882

He was an exec. producer on the LOTR trilogy. Since only producers, not exec. producers, qualify for Best Picture, he didn’t get nominated. He did get nominated for Shakespeare in Love and Gangs of New York, and he won for the former.January 26, 2013 at 11:10 pm #88883
He and his brother Bob owned Miramax. It was named after their parents.
