If we take a closer look ,according to Goldderby and its experts the predictions show that Cate Blanchett is 3rd , Rooney Mara is 2nd, Carter Burwell in the score is 2nd, Phyllis Nagy in the adapted screenplay is 2nd, Sandy Powell is 2nd ( but first with Cinderella) and only Edward Lachman the cinematographer is 4th…

YOU REALLY THINK THAT THE ACADEMY WILL LEAVE ONE OF THE BEST REVIEWED FILMS OF 2015 GO HOME EMPTY HANDED? I DON´T REALLY THINK SO!

The sure losses are Cate in leading, because she has two oscars already under her belt, the adapted screenplay because nothing can stop The Big Short there and Cinematography because Emmanuel Lubezki´s cinematography is -yet again- a true masterpiece that helps The Revenant be even better…

but what about the other three chances? Rooney, Burwell and Sandy are still fighting I would say …what do you think ?

Rooney’s officially done after her SAG loss, even if she wins BAFTA.

    Well…

Gangs of New York. 10 nominations. 0 Oscars.

    Seabiscuit. 7 nominations. 0 Oscars.

The Insider. 7 nominations. 0 Oscars.

True Grit. 10 nominations. 0 Oscars.

American Hustle. 10 nominations. 0 Oscars.

The list goes on and on. Carol won’t be an exception. I’d rather take the “Most acclaimed movie of the year is going empty handed?” than “6-time nominee is going home empty handed?”.

I think it could very well win Best Costume Design, unless Mad Max is a behemoth on Oscar night.

    Mara is done.
Morricone is a lock for Score.
Mad Max vs. Cinderella for Costume design.

    Sorry… 🙁 lol

Meh, I’m over Carol underperforming with the academy. It already has a cult following and it is the most critically acclaimed movie of the year.
Time will show the true value of this masterpiece. It will certainly age better than over the top shit like The Revenant and The Big Short.

Oh, and it will win costume design.

Even one of the most beloved film of all time, Shawshank Redemption got a swing and a miss with 0 for 7 record in 1995. Carol’s best chance to snag something from this year’s oscar fell to original score nominee. Hopefully academy will reward this beautiful film at least 1 trophy

It coud win Best Costume, but I think costume is between Mad Max Fury Road and Cinderella.

Movies have had way more nominations and been very well liked by critics and/or the Academy in the past and gone home with nothing. It happens. It does have an outside chance at Costume Design, and that is where I could theoretically see fans of the film attempting to push it to a win. It’s a lot more likely that award will be taken by the flashier Cinderella or Mad Max if it really sweeps the techs, but a Carol win wouldn’t be the most shocking thing.

Why so many people love this movie I don’t see it.

Yes, the Cinematography was very good, and the performances were very strong.

But the character of Carol was very unlikable for me. And I just didn’t see any chemistry between Carol and Therese.

The movie is nowehere near the quality of Brokeback Mountain wich had amazing performances that worked.

I hope the movie will lose all of it’s nominations since I don’t believe it deserves to win any of them. (Personal opinion)

Carol is good. But not fantastic. The performances are great. But not the best. If it doesn’t take any trophies, it still has a good movie. But I don’t think it necessarily has to have any trophies.
