A Korean-born man finds himself stuck in Columbus, Indiana, where his architect father is in a coma. The man meets a young woman who wants to stay in Columbus with her mother, a recovering addict, instead of pursuing her own dreams.
Stars: John Cho, Haley Lu Richardson, Parker Posey
Anyone saw this? 89 on MC, 25 reviews, I thought Cho and Richardson were amazing, Haley Lu Richardson is gonna be a star and I Hope Kogonada does more movies, what an outstanding debut.
Anyone saw this?
I did! One of my favorite movies of the year! Hope it gets some Spirit noms.
It seems that only we saw this? Surprised since this kind of indie happens to be praised a lot around here.
I haven’t heard of this until now but Haley Lu Richardson was fantastic in The Edge of Seventeen, one of my favorite movies of 2016. I’m excited to see this.
I’ve also already seen this and am still not sure what I feel. Contemplative pacing, ethereal cinematography, naturalistic acting. Somewhat uneventful. I wouldn’t (publicly) call it boring and dull but.. wouldn’t object if someone said it themselves. Overall, a promising debut with an outstanding performance from Richardson in particular. But definitely not for everyone. And I don’t mean that in a condescending way because it was barely for me. I just don’t want to be liable for others falling into a coma like Jin’s father on my recommendation.
