Could Jacob Tremblay win an OSCAR for Room?
It’s one of the best performances of the year so far that is universally acclaimed by critics and by audiences who has seen it. He’s been doing a great job so far out on the campaign trail. Critics organizations will probably reward his astonishing supporting performance even though he’s lead/co-lead in the movie. The line-up for supporting actor is very stacked with veterans looking for their first nomination, former winners, and veterans in a career resurgence. We need another Tatum O’Neal and Anna Paquin moment. Since he’s perfection in this very difficult and demanding role, Jacob could pull the upset. It would be a refreshing change to not see the OSCAR handed to another veteran for a lifetime achievement award.
If he’s nominated for Supporting Actor at the OSCARS next year, do you think he has a shot at winning?October 18, 2015 at 1:30 pm #196112
Probably not. The Oscars are usually very reluctant to give young people awards and when they do it has always always been actresses who have won as juveniles. That being said his and Brie Larson’s performances are astonishing.October 18, 2015 at 2:23 pm #196113
It’s a lead performance, so I hope not. It wouldn’t be fair to real supporting performances.October 18, 2015 at 3:14 pm #196114
Yes. I initially belived that the race would be between Elba and Tremblay. After seeing Beasts Of No Nation, I think Elba’s performance is too slight to win, especially given how Abraham Attah completely owns the movie, and Elba tries to own the movie but simply can’t compete with Attah. Plus Room is my predicted winner for Picture, so it’s only fitting that Tremblay should be the frontrunner.October 19, 2015 at 2:52 pm #196115
That’s tough. Let him get a nomination first then talk about a win. That being said with Elba/Beasts flopping Supporting Actor is wiiiiiide open for the taking.October 19, 2015 at 11:41 pm #196116
I think he can win. If we’re going to call Brie Larson the frontrunner, I can’t imagine voters watching that movie and ranking her number one without at least also ranking him that same level or close to it.October 20, 2015 at 1:48 am #196117

As it an adult co-lead winning (which happens a lot and could happen again) would be fair.
Bencio Del Toro
Marcia Gay Harden
Christoph Waltz – TWICE!
Even Arquette and Simmons could be in lead.
So, yes, I hope he has a shot. He has the performance and the film could be really huge with voters.October 20, 2015 at 1:50 am #196118

Well, it could happen, mainly because many voters will rank her first without even watching her film if all the precursors are in line.
