David Fincher’s adaptation of the best-selling novel GONE GIRL is moving forward with production.
The two lead roles, particularly the female, are insanely juicy based on the novel.

Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike are supposedly the frontrunners for the roles.

I really enjoyed the book, but my immediate reaction to the film was that Ben Affleck is misscast.  Fincher also mentioned changing the ending.    We shall see how this turns out.

If you haven’t done so, read Flynn’s earlier novel “Sharp Objects.”

Ben Affleck seems perfectly cast to me. In fact I’d say I can’t think of anyone better.

Rosamund Pike on the other hand is a complete headscratcher.

Having not read the book, I’m still really curious to see how Neil Patrick Harris and (especially) Tyler Perry fit into the David Fincher mold.

    THREE STRIKES, YER OUT!

    1. Gone Girl
    2. David Fincher
    3. Ben Affleck

An overrated book filmed by an overrated director starring an overrated actor who is too old for the role.

In the aftermath of McConaughey anything is possible.

When I read the book, Ben Affleck was the last person I would have thought would have been cast.  Nick Dunne is 34, younger than Amy.  He’s a total spoiled pretty boy with a streak of immaturity in the way he approaches his relationship with his wife and his attitude toward her disappearance.  Aflleck is too old and does not give off that aloof and naive vibe that Nick possesses through much of the novel.   Who knows–he might surprise, but definitely does not scream “perfect choice.”

Hmmm…directors ‘directing’ other “directors”. Well, maybe Benben can pull off a Hollywoodland and furiously rub his two brain cells together to produce some spontaneous energy.

I actualy cant think of any other actress who physically fits Amy more than Rosamund. Im really expecting for her to blow the movie and become frontrunner.
Affleck , for once, has a great vehicle as an actor. Nick is not as complex as Amy but its a great role. I think he actualy fits the role , in the book Nick is younger than Amy but ignoring that fact, its a good cast.

I still dont think Neil Patrick Harris role is anything special and it can even look weaker on screen but it all depends on how the screenplay goes.
My favourite casting of the film is, by far, MIssi Pyle as Ellen Abbott. Its not more than a cameo but it fits Missi to a T.

Looks like this is only being edited by Kirk Baxter and not him and Angus Wall. He’s also finally dumped FCP 7 and is now using Premiere. Cool.

I am almost tempted to see the movie just to find out how successfully they adapt a story told in the first person from alternating POVs and journal entries. Oh and that tricksy “unreliable narrator” thing. Sounds like a tough thing to pull off in a film.

    Almost.

If all else fails, Fincher can just order Ben to take off his shirt.

    What do you mean?

I’m reading the book and given Flynn’s descriptions, I imagine Amy Dunne as someone like January Jones.
Given the fact that Rosamund Pike looks like January Jones, I’d say it’s a good casting choice?
