Dial M for Murder is a Masterpiece! Do you guys think it should have recieved Oscar nominations in marjor categories (Picture, Directing, Writing, Actress, etc.), and do you think it chould have won any of these major categories, or the categories that it was nominated in?
Hitchcock was nominated for Best Director for Rear Window the same year, yet that even greater film was mostly ignored otherwise (including no BP nomination). Grace Kelly won best actress the same year for The Country Girl.
I’ve had the opportunity to see the underrated DDfM in 3D twice; it was not generally released in that format after the trend died out in 1954.
This is my favorite of his movies and it is so underrated! The Rear Window is probably my second favorite so tough year but I still probably would have given it at least a nom for BP, BD, Screenplay. The movie takes place almost entirely in like two rooms yet he still keeps it interesting and suspenseful throughout. And the acting was great although I haven’t seen it a while and none of them stuck with me that much. Honestly I probably remember Grace Kelly the most although of course she was nominated the same year. But I have heard many people say that it was probably partly because of this film and Rear Window that she was able to take down Judy Garland. I’m pretty sure the critics awards she won were for all three.
