March 4, 2016 (exactly a year from today)

    Starring Jason Bateman

Premise: The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde, to solve the mystery. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia,” a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,” “Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”) and co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”), opens in theaters on March 4, 2016.

Zootopia and Moana look like really promising Disney projects so far. I’m eager for both.

Seems pretty early for a March release date. Probably will play before Inside Out

Woah! It’s a really good teaser. The part when all the citizens enter the frame is a fest for the eyes if you like character design!

Anyone else wondering why Shakira’s character is so overly sexualised? Especially for an animated animal!

Variety: While it doesn’t have quite the same breakout potential as the Mouse House’s past few hits, “Zootopia” has shrewdly established both an environment that could be further explored from countless other angles (in a spinoff TV series, perhaps) and an odd-couple chemistry between Nick and Judy that carries on even after Gazelle returns for her obligatory grand finale.

The Wrap: And yet its moral ambition gives “Zootopia” enough of a refreshing twist to stand out from the rest of the animated pack. After the animals on screen finish talking, parents and kids just might be inspired to have their own discussion about the movie’s well-intended message.

Robbie Colin: Zootropolis (aka Zootopia) is like a Richard Scarry neo-noir: think Busytown by way of Chinatown. Funny and wildly inventive.

If it’s good, Finding Dory will win the Oscar. Nothing else really stands a chance on paper.
