I’m reposting this topic, because this website can’t handle me doing one *expletive* edit and ends up removing the original “for moderator approval” (which is pretty much a code for your post won’t ever see the light of day EVER).

    Anyway…

I have zero doubt that Elisabeth Moss will one day be an Oscar nominee.

    Especially since… well…

    Please make this happen! Somebody!

She has the talent, she just needs the roles.

I don’t see it, she should have got major roles during the course of Mad Men if it was the case. I think she is going to score a lot of Golden Globes for tv roles though.

Are there recent examples of established and acclaimed tv actors breaking into the Oscar nominee world at all? Usually it’s the other way, isn’t it?

She definitely has the talent for it, but, I believe television production is gaining more respect and visibility that soon her “emmy” and “golden globes” nominees and wins will be enough for everyone to remember and respect her as a extraordinary actress.

But surely an oscar win would set her career on stone forever. Jessica Lange, for example, got into the spotlight again and got recognition at the awards again because of television roles and because of that no one doubt she will be always reminded of one of the best actress ever. Same could happen for Elisabeth Moss later, but in cinema.

Yes. Two of this year’s Best Supporting Actress nominees (Allison Janney (the very likely winner) and Laurie Metcalf) were until very recently known mostly for their TV roles.

Elisabeth Moss has the talent to easily turn in an Oscar worthy performance.  She has many movies in the works. She was even one of the main characters in the Oscar nominated foreign film, The Square.

She has a decent amount of upcoming roles, such as a role in the new David Lowerey film: Old Man and the Gun. I believe it’s a small role, but she also has The Seagull coming out. She’s also staring in a movie called Her Smell which seems to have potential for a great performance.

I suspect, however, that she will get nominated for the upcoming Simon Curtis movie, Call Jane. Curtis being the director that for Michelle Williams nominated.

Moss is beloved in the industry at this point. I’d be shocked if she never won an Oscar.

I mean, her performance is literally every episode of The Handmaid’s Tale is better than half of this year’s nominees, in my opinion. She’s mindblowingly good in that show, and I hope she’s given opportunities to take her talents to the big screen.

She’s in Old Man and the Gun? Wow. I forgot about that. That means she could have a nomination (for Best Supporting Actress) as early as next year.

Posting a post here to resurrect this dead topic after no replies in the past 24 hours. Will do this one more time after no responses within 24 hours and then I’ll assume the topic is dead. That means for now it’s still alive. LOL

Bryan Cranston was Oscar nominated for Trumbo two years after Breaking Bad ended.

Will Smith became a major movie star during Fresh Princes run but he’s in the minority I think since TV shows are time consuming and it’s actors don’t have much time to film movies. Michelle Williams and George Clooney had been a couple of years out from their hit shows before really breaking out in film.
