Does anybody know the date the issue of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY containing its 2016 Oscar picks will hit newsstands? It’s my usual barometer for my Oscar pool.

I’m subscribed to EW and it shows that the current issue (which is being released this week the 29th) is their Oscar issue

I believe the current issue for the week of the 29th is the edition profiling this year’s races.  HOWEVER, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY’s actual predictions appear in an article printed in an issue released close to ceremony time in February.  It’s the article with pie charts indicating percentages for each nominee’s chances in the major categories.  And a sidebar column contains predictions for down ballot categories.  (This article does not appear in EW’s Special Oscar edition.)

(It’s too early for EW to release its actual predictions in the midst of Oscar weeks campaigning.)

The Oscar issue features a fascinating interview with two time Academy Award winning actress Glenda Jackson who, now in her 70s, has decided to return to acting after leaving the profession more than two decades ago to enter politics in her native England.

The article speculates on what parts Jackson might have played in last 25 years or so and suggests she might have won a third Oscar playing the Queen in Shakespeare in Love.

Personally I think she would have been extremely interesting as Sister Aloysius Beauvier in Doubt. Jackson previously played a nun in a political comedy Nasty Habits. I think it would have been an arm chair gripper watching her go toe to toe with Philip Seymour Hoffman as the possibly pedophile priest. The conflict in the film never reached the level of intensity that were possible in the script.

I got my copy in the mail today. American Crime Story is on the cover.
