Is there anyone in here pumped for Fantastic Four? I am! It’s one of my most expected movies this year. I have this questionable certainty that will be fantastic indeed.

In this thread I’m going to share some of the reasons I think so, but honestly it’s almost an excuse to let the hype out.

It has Miles Teller and that is, quite frankly, good enough of a reason to watch the movie.

Everyone in the cast is likeable. I need this to be good! Michael B Jordan needs to be watched by everyone.

I liked the trailers more than I thought I would, and I love Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan. That said, all of the controversy about Josh Trank has made things disconcerting.

I’m interested in seeing how this one turns out because I only liked elements of the previous two movies so hopefully this has the fun of those and a great doctor doom but a better script. Also, I’m hoping Teller is great in this becuase the last Reed was boring as hell.

I don’t expect this to be a massive success, but I hope it’s a hit enough that it doesn’t damage MBJ and Teller’s blossoming careers. Love those guys. They are 2 of the most exciting young actors in quite a while.

I’m completely sure this gonna disappoint at box office for all the reasons (problematic reboot, doomed with fans since announced, troubled promotion, general vile will). But I’m expecting to be a hit quality wise with the limited audiences who actually go and watch it and with the critics.

Also if this turns to be a mess, I don’t think will damage any careers (besides Trank maybe). Both Teller and Jordan had disasters in their filmography and they’re doing great. I mean, That Awkward Moment for a very illustrative example (which I didn’t hate btw).

Michael B. Jordan has the toughest shoes to fill. Chris
Evans portrayal of Human Torch is probably the most accurate of any
portrayal given thus far in a Marvel movie. Good luck, Michael!

I pretty much agree. I would say that Evans is only bested by JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson in the Raimi ‘Spider-Man’ films.

I heard the reaction to the Fantastic Four panel at Comic-Con was really underwhelming, especially compared to the reactions to other films. Does anyone know if this is true?

Double yes! But I’d go with J.K. Simmons as J.J. Jameson as the most accurate one. Noteworthy both characters are almost one noted – which stop me to have Chris Evans in high regard for this cause a) the movie is awful, b) he’s 1/4 of the lead superheroes, c) but the Johnny Storm version they chose to adapt, if classic, is the flattest.

Sadly but unsurprisingly, it is true. I watched the full F4 panel and was awkward.

The fact of having this movie at Comic-Con was solely a desperate try to lift the promotion cause is expected to open really, really low at the box office. The cold reception it’s understable compared to the other movies because this open in less than a month! While the others were the first look ever; of course is more exciting to watch the first teaser of Deadpool than the latest of F4.

Then comes the factor of the general bad will for this movie. Almost everyone expect this to flop hard, to be as bad as they imagine, and hated the project since the conception. So all the run has been a fight of trying to convince them otherwise rather than hyped what is already hyped.

What lead us to the ensemble behavior on stage. Yes, it was distant and almost defensive… but do you blame them? I get it. To me felt honest. They’re all new to this kind of event, all five represent the very best of their generation with promising careers… and they’ve been attacked since they were casted. It’s not the same that being Ryan Reynolds with a dead-career-nothing-to-lose having the chance to resurrect it through an exhilarating character or that being Hugh Jackman with an established status and universally beloved in its umptieth time in there. Excuse them for not being super cheerful to be in front of hundreds of people that executed the movie even before watch it.

    I rest my case.

Thank you, your honor. I’d accept my kiss in the face then.
