    A case could be made that he is. He’s a borderline case much like Janet Leigh. Not sure which category he was campaigned for, if any.

    I can definitely agree with that. He was getting precursor attention for lead though (and he wasn’t really campaigning on top of that, that’s probably what led him to lose out on a nom, aside from the nature of his character performance).

    Cool fact related to this btw: when Perkins was snubbed for a (Lead/Supporting) Oscar nom, Hitchcock rang up Perkins himself and told him that he had been absolutely robbed and the Academy disgraced itself with its decision.
