    Linda Blair, The Exorcist

    Really?

William Friedkin who directed The Exorcist used a dubbed vocal, masks and special effects for facial expression and mid-line reading edits to create an artificially constructed performance from the rather inept adolescent Linda Blair.

Sadly, Friedkin attempted in interviews to hide all of this. Academy Award winner Mercedes McCambridge who did the majority of the vocals for the possessed character revealed the farce to the press after Oscar nominations were announced. The fraud resulted in AMPAS voters passing over the horror film which had originally been the front runner in many of categories.

Here is an interview with McCambridge who discusses her work on The Exorcist

    Mercedes McCambridge

Linda Blair for Best Supporting Actress is one of the worst Oscar nominations ever.
