For quite a while, I’ve had a love-hate relationship with Jennifer Lawrence. Some of her antics off-screen have clouded my opinions of her as an actress and have made me forget that she really is an amazing actress.

So for this thread, I’d love to see some positivity. If you are a fan of hers, be sure to vote for what you think is your favorite performance of hers thus far. If you don’t have a favorite performance of hers and/or have nothing nice to say, don’t write anything. She already gets enough flack as it is. So if anyone writes a nasty post, I close this thread. Capisce?!

Anyways, I think my favorite performance of hers is that of the Girl on Fire, Katniss in The Hunger Games. But how about you guys?

And of course two of her better performances are not even mentioned. Why even bother with threads like this if you can’t think outside the box and always mention only the most popular performances. Fucking ugh! Couldn’t decide between Winter’s Bone, The Burning Plain and The Poker House. Went with ‘other’ because at the moment I consider her performance in The Burning Plain to be her best.

I haven’t seen Burning Plain or Poker House yet. But I’ll definitely be sure to think outside the box in future polls like this.

Seconded. She deserved a Razzie for “American Hustle.”

Having just seen the last “Hunger Games” film, I’m not scared to say how great she was in this role. For the first two, even awards-worthy.

I’m not interested in the “X-Men” films, I haven’t seen “Joy” and I definitely wouldn’t nominate her for “American Hustle”. I also find her performance quite overrated in “Winter’s Bone”. And the film as well.

She was good, but not Oscar-worthy in “The Beaver”, she was acceptable in “The Last House of the End” (not Razzie-worthy by any means). She was okay in “Serena” and “Like Crazy”, but more like forgettable.

I haven’t seen “The Poker House” or “The Burning Plain”, but I really loved her in “Silver Linings Playbook” and she was my winner for that as well. I’m happy she won, because it’s a great performance. She was about 8th or 9th on my Best Actress list for “Catching Fire”. But that’s all. As much as I love to defend her from the haters, I can think objectively.

Wow Vince. You’ll have to teach me how that’s done, because there’s no such thing.

My fave perf of hers? Winter’s Bone…..

The point is that just because I like Lawrence and defend her on these forums, it doesn’t actually mean I love everything she did in her filmography.

Her Silver Linings Playbook performance gets ragged on because Jessica Chastain was somehow perceived to be more overdue, and Emmanuelle Riva is really old.

    She’s terrific in it.

She was incredible in The Hunger Games. It’s just that it’s a blockbuster based on a young adult series, so of course it’s not going to be taken seriously. Harry Potter was a major anomaly.

Still, I went with Winter’s Bone. Brilliant performance. The Poker House would be my third choice.

Jennifer Lawrence is one of the best working young actress today. I don’t care about his off screen antics, she delivers great performances in almost all films she’s in. My favorite performance of her is Silver Linings Playbook

She’s impressed me in everything I’ve seen her in but I have to go with Winter’s Bone.

Three Oscar nominated performances from her has been unnecessarily praised to the heavens just because. Extremely vanilla Actress. Okay in SLP, terrible in American Hustle, underwhelming in Joy. Nope. I have yet to be impressed by the hoe. But I guess I like her as Katniss but I HATED her as Mystique..blaaahhhhh. Ugh wtf.

Agh, agh, agh. I said anything nasty, I stop this thread.
