I was re-watching ‘To Die For’ and I have to admire how deliciously vile Nicole Kidman’s character was.

Sometimes, we go to the movies to watch the villains as much as the heroes and sometimes, in To Die For for instance, the whole plot is based around  a villain.

What are some of your favorites?

I just can´t believe Travis Bickle is actualy conciered a villain, he is far from a hero but the beauty on his characture is that he was neither, a simple outsider trying to fit in somehow.
I also dont think Daniel Plainview is one (even through this one is more discussable) but he was a man with ambition that did everything he could for his own well, he didn´t really care about other people and I dont think his intentions were hurting others, he was simply hypnotized by the power.

Dont have a list or anything but Javier Bardem comes to mind for his portrayls in Skyfall & No Country. Both very very memorable.

    1. Hannibal Lecter – The Silence of the Lambs
    2. Amon Goeth, Schindler’s List
    3. The Joker, The Dark Knight
    4. Norman Bates, Psycho
    5. The Wicked Witch of the West, The Wizard of Oz
    6. Darth Vader, Star Wars
    7. Michael Corleone, The Godfather Part II (though some consider him a tragic hero)
    8. Alex Forrest, Fatal Attraction
    9. Daniel Plainview, There Will Be Blood
    10. Hans Landa, Inglourious Basterds

Not close behind are Anton Chigurh, No Country for Old Men; Annie Wilkes, Misery; Regan MacNeil, The Exorcist (though it’s really the devil that’s the villain) and Scar from The Lion King.

And there is no way in hell that Travis Bickle is a villain. You missed the message of the film if you think that.

Travis Bickle is more like an anti-hero, but hardly a full out villain.

First villain that came to mind was “Mitch Leary” from In the Line of Fire.

On a side note, I can agree that Daniel Plainview is a villain. He’s greedy, totally selfish and incapable of loving anything or anyone who’s not of any use to him, even his own son who SPOILER goes deaf in a drilling accident caused by Daniel SPOILER.

Travis Bickle is just not a villain. Anti-hero is possible, maybe tragic hero like Michael Corleone, but he is most certainly not a villain.
