I could type for days and days…but I will limit this to my abosulute 2 favs:

    Anne Bancroft – The Graduate
Ellen Burstyn – Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore

Both of these could alternate with other performances of course!  But these two ladies are my all time favs, been a huge fan of both since my first introductions to them – 1983 for Bancroft and 1986 for Burstyn when I was 8 and 11 years old.

    You can’t name just one…

    (in alphabetical order)

    Cate Blanchett: Elisabeth
    Katherine Hepburn: The Philadelphia Story
Vivien Leigh: A Streetcar Named Desire
    Meryl Streep: Doubt

    Marlon Brando, Apocalypse Now
    Leonardo DiCaprio, The Aviator
    Tom Hanks, Forrest Gump
    Ed Harris, Pollock
    Dustin Hoffman, Rain Man
James Stewart, Mr Smith Goes to Washington
    Peter O’Toole, Lawrence of Arabia

Meryl Streep is a weird actress in a way (ok, streep lovers, keep reading this please). I’ve seen 9 movies of hers. And 80% of them seem to be showcases of her incredible acting talents in movies that are… good/mediocre. Kramer vs Kramer and Doubt are the best I’ve seen of her (and even Kramer vs Kramer doesn’t hold up thematically as it did in ’79, while Apocalypse Now still holds up and will continue to hold up for hundreds of years).

    Chris Cooper, Adaptation
Chris Walken;  Deer Hunter, and etc
Carrie Snodgress; Diary of a Mad Housewife
