Over the years, there have been many memorable Oscar wins. Almost as memorable are the reactions from fellow nominees who LOST the Oscar.

What is your favorite reaction from someone who LOST the Oscar?

Cate Blanchett losing to Marion Cotillard. Loved her for that.

One of my all time favorites was Queen Latifah losing the Oscar to Catherine Zeta-Jones. It was nice to see her so truly happy for her co-star winning. The way she just turned around and screamed “YES!” for Catherine winning was amazing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrIKVZOKxdg

I also really like Meryl Streep and Whoopi Goldbergs reaction to Geraldine Page winning for The Trip to Bountiful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKw6su_e6Z0

Ellen Burystn’s confused expression when she lost to Glenda Jackson in 1972 was priceless.

Meryl Streep jumping out of her seat when Cher won in 1988 was great too.

Last year, I remember Q. Wallis was the only one in the lineup who was genuinely happy for Jennifer.

Ellen Burstyn losing to Glenda Jackson always cracks me up.

River Phoenix had several spasms when Kevin Kline won, that was so weird.

But my favorite will forever be Queen Kathleen losing to Marlee Matlin.

Queen Kathleen should have gone all Serial Mom on everyone for robbing her of her Oscar!

Sally Kirkland’s eye roll turned to fake happy smile is the stuff legend is made of!

I thought it was great when Samuel L. Jackson visibly swore loudly when Martin Landau won.

Burt Reynolds looking pretty pissed when Robin Williams won.

Also, Lauren Bacall’s (and the guy sitting next to her) reaction to Binoche winning.

EVERYONE in the Best Actor category chhering loudly at Daniel Day-Lewis’ win for My Left Foot. Particularly for the split-second reactions of Branagh and Williams, who look like they were each about to fall out of their chairs.

Julie Christie looking for her acceptance speech in her pocket book as Marion Cotillard’s name was called.  Then, her delayed reaction and huge clapping.

I’m still torn between her or Sigweavey that year. But yeah Kathleen was excellent throughout the 80s in very non-Oscar roles, which is even more impressive. I’d love it if she had one for Peggy Sue but whatevs.

Emmanuelle Riva’s face after Jennifer Lawrence won…pure indifference.

Jack Nicholson and Nicolas Cage standing next to each other with lots of applause for Adrien Brody.

Eddie Murphy’s face when he lost to Alan Arkin (shortly before he left the theater).

Alan Alda tearing up his speech to the camera (fake outrage he had planned to do for fun).
