We live in a world where Jonah Hill, Jacki Weaver, George Clooney or Bradley Cooper have more Oscar nominations than one of the greatest actresses of all time, Tilda Swinton. But who cares, if she beats them all combined? One thing is sure, she should have more Oscars, and Oscar nominations.

In my opinion she’s a chameleon in acting, and as (if not more) talented as Meryl Streep or Cate Blanchett for sure.

But why are your favorite performances by the Godass?

Snowpiercer and WNTTAK stand out for me but I’d also include Only Lovers Left Alive. The movie isn’t my favorite but she’s spectacular, being the best part of something otherwise just okay seems to be a theme of hers but that could just be me.

I think WNTTAK is her best performance, but my favorite of hers is Snowpiercer. I like her no matter what she does. I would say that, wait for it…she’s better than Meryl Streep.

Probably my favorite living movie actor, after De Niro maybe, but he’s not even trying anymore.

    1. Orlando
    2. The Deep End
    3. Julia
    4. Edward ll
    5. Snowpiercer

I agree that beyond the 90’s very few of the movies she’s in lived up to work, though Snowpiercer comes close. But she committed to taking risks and constantly trying new things, which is what’s most important. Never understood the hype around WNTTAK or her performance in it, which is smothered by all its nonsense. Sure, she deserved a spot over Close, but that entire category was wack when the likes of Dunst, Olsen and Wigg were eligible.

So many brilliant performances! I’m gonna go with WNTTAK. Julia is very underrated.

    My personal choices…

1 – “We Need to Talk About Kevin”
    2 – “I Am Love”
    3 – “Snowpiercer”
    4 – “Orlando”
    5 – “Trainwreck”

Honestly, every time I watch Swinton’s performance in any movie I feel like that’s exactly the era/ the setting where she belongs.
My pick is I Am Love, Great film and absolutely magnificent performance.

I pondered choosing that one. But for me, Orlando is the most elegant film on gender politics and the nature of gender itself. The film continues to knock me out, every time I see it. The kinds of grace Swinton adds to her/his central character is a marvel.

And let’s not forget how awesome she was in Trainwreck. This woman is a beast!

I completely agree with you. Swinton is one of the best actors working today and such a chameleon.

Her performance in I Am Love was brilliant.
