Hello, Derbyites, since I have created a fair share of individual For Your Consideration posts for my favorite films and performances of the year thus far, I figured I’d create a thread for my fellow Derbyites to share their own passion picks for this awards season.

    Some more of mine:

    FYC:

Mississippi Grind- Best Actor (Ben Mendelsohn)

While We’re Young- Best Actress (Naomi Watts), Best Supporting Actor (Adam Driver)

Inside Out- Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Original Score, Best Sound

Spy- Best Actress  (Melissa McCarthy), Best Supporting Actress  (Rose Byrne, Miranda Hart), Best Original Screenplay, Best Song “Who Can You Trust?”

    It Follows- Best Original Score

Pitch Perfect 2- Best Original Song “Flashlight”

The Visit- Best Supporting Actress  (Deanna Dunagan)

Kingsman: The Secret Service- Best Picture, Best Actor (Taron Egerton), Best Supporting Actor (Samuel L. Jackson), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Sound Editing/Mixing

Sicario- Best Picture, Best Director  (Denis Villeneuve), Best Actress (Emily Blunt), Best Supporting Actor (Benicio Del Toro), Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Original Score

Mad Max: Fury Road- Best Picture, Best Director  (George Miller), Best Actor (Tom Hardy), Best Actress (Charlize Theron), Best Supporting Actor (Nicholas Hoult), Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing/Mixing, Best Visual Effects, Best Makeup

How about you folks? Let’s discuss. I know that voters likely won’t go for our faves. But it’s always fun to discuss which of our faves we feel passionate about.

Straight Outta Compton for Picture. Suffragette for Picture, Actress, Supporting Actress, etc. Oh….FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION……do not nominate anything “Martian”. Do not dare reward “Steve Jobs”.

Oh and nominate Meryl Streep to piss everyone off. You’d make my morning, Academy.

Well, we know what happened to her biggest trasher, but what has happened to Etchie?

I’m not sure I want to know, actually.

Meryl  at least, can cause a thread-making hoopla.

Inside Out: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (Amy Poehler), Best Sup. Actor (Lewis Black), Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Original Song (“Bing Bong’s Theme”), Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Animated Feature, Best Production Design, Best Film Editing, Best Visual Effects

You left out the one that IMO would be most likely to break the Actors Branch’s bias against voiceovers: Phyllis Smith for Supporting Actress. I believe her performance as Sadness is the main reason the movie worked so well; Amy Poehler comes close as Joy, but is too well-known. (Too bad Disney’s FYC site for Inside Out doesn’t list *any* actors, though voiceover actors appear on the Reminder List and thus are eligible for acting noms.)

While all the actors in Inside Out were wonderful, Poehler and Black were the only ones to me that were the biggest standouts. If I had to rank them it’s Poehler, then Black, then Smith, then Hader, then Kaling. But just keep in mind that I love all the actors in the movie. They all do a fantastic job voicing the characters and if any of the actors break through I will be extraordinarily happy. And yeah I’m looking at Disney’s FYC page right now. Yay for Best Picture, but nay for any of the actors.
