Who do you guys think should have won the Oscar between the two of them for Thelma & Louise? Geena Davis or Susan Sarandon?
Personally I thought they should have tied.September 19, 2013 at 5:18 pm #113431
Jodi Foster. But if it was just between Davis and Sarandon then I think I’d choose the former, but barely. Davis had the more explosive role, but Sarandon was easily as strong in her calmer portrayal.September 19, 2013 at 5:45 pm #113432
Geena Davis’s character was the more interesting role.September 19, 2013 at 6:29 pm #113433
Sarandon. Davis had the flashier role, but Sarandon gave a better acting performance. She and Foster both gave stunning performances and should have tied that year, and I think Sarandon was also win-worthy for Atlantic City.September 19, 2013 at 11:11 pm #113434
And Jodie Foster did NOT deserve to win. It should have gone to Thelma or Louise.

Phenomenal performances from Davis, Sarandon and Foster that year. Jodie Foster’s win for Silence of the Lambs is one of my all time favorites in that category, but depending on the day I sometimes think i’d rather it be that Geena Davis won instead. if that makes any sense.September 20, 2013 at 1:20 am #113436

This one belongs lock, stock and barrell to Jodie Foster. No doubt about that… with that said, of the two, I’d go slightly more with Susan Sarandon, who just gave a better performance.September 20, 2013 at 6:21 pm #113441
I’m a great admirer of Susan Sarandon, so, of course, I’d have preferred her to win that year. Her goodbye to Michael Madsen in the hotel room is excellently done. Geena Davis also quite good in a more flashy role, but also one that could’ve gone bad easily, as a lesser actress probably would’ve turned Thelma into an annoying harpie.
Foster is also good in The Silence of the Lambs but on further viewings I like the performance less.
Midler and Dern were also rans. Fillers.September 20, 2013 at 6:43 pm #113442
Dern was terrific in Rambling Rose, like she is in everything. She may not have come close to winning, but it was a nomination well-deserved.September 20, 2013 at 7:20 pm #113443
Geena or Susan?
