Of the last ten Oscar-less actresses who have won the Golden Globe for Best Actress (Motion Picture Musical or Comedy), who do you think is most likely to win an Academy Award someday for acting?

    Ranking of likelihood:

    1. Amy Adams

    2. Michelle Williams

    3. Annette Bening

    4. Angela Bassett

    5. Sally Hawkins

    6. Janet McTeer

    7. Jamie Lee Curtis

    8. Miranda Richardson

    9. Bette Midler

    10. Madonna

Two of these women I ranked 1st when they were nominated: Amy Adams for Junebug and Angela Bassett for What’s Love Got To Do With It

I ranked Williams 2nd for Brokeback Mountain, 3rd for My Week with Marilyn, and 5th for Blue Valentine.

I ranked Bening 2nd for American Beauty and The Kids Are All Right; and 3rd for The Grifters and Being Julia. (If she had gotten in Supporting Actress for Mother and Child, I would have ranked her 1st.)

I ranked McTeer 3rd for Tumbleweeds and 2nd for Albert Nobbs.

Bette Midler and Miranda Richardson each have two nominated performances, and I have seen none of them. Yet. I figured Midler would have won a Song Oscar by now.

I would have given Jamie Lee Curtis two nominations by now. First, in Supporting Actress for True Lies. My top five would have looked like 1) Dianne Wiest/Bullets Over Broadway, 2) Robin Wright/Forrest Gump, 3) Jamie Lee Curtis/True Lies, 4) Uma Thurman/Pulp Fiction, and 5) Sally Field/Forrest Gump. I would have also given Curtis a nom for Freaky Friday, taking out either Keisha Castle-Hughes/Whale Rider or Samantha Morton/In America. I truly hope Scream Queens breathes life and revitalizes into Curtis’s acting career the way AHS did Jessica Lange’s.

I would have given Madonna a Lead Actress nom for Evita, taking out Kristin Scott Thomas/The English Patient. She would have likely come in 4th or 5th for me. And I would have certainly given her the nom and win in Song for “Masterpiece” from W./E. I was so bummed that it was deemed inelgible for the Oscars.

Sally Hawkins ranked 2nd for me for Blue Jasmine. I would have given her a Lead Actress nom for Happy-Go-Lucky, taking out Angelina Jolie/Changeling, and ranking her 4th. I’ve said it over and over and over but won’t too much longer: Do an Amy Winehouse biopic, cast Sally Hawkins in the role. I can’t say that much longer because Winehouse died at 27, and Hawkins is 13 months shy of turning 40. Although I guess if Amy Adams can play Janis Joplin, Hawkins can play Winehouse.

I would love for Bette Midler to do so. Her performance in The Rose is one of the all time greatest and I really wish she would get a juicy role to shine in

Excellent casting idea! I don’t think the age difference would be a problem right now. Hawkins looks quite young for her age, and I always found Winehouse to look much older than she really was.

Jamie Lee Curtis should already be a multiple nominee and Oscar-winner. I went with her, because I need to believe that the Academy will reward her someday.

Of course, Amy Adams Annette Bening and Michelle Williams are good bets, too.

Amy Adams will win as Janis Joplin.

    Bening, too.

    Williams, perhaps.
