Am I missing something? Did I miss out on some announcement that we weren’t going to be doing the Gold Derby Film Awards this year? I hope that they’ve just been delayed, because I thoroughly enjoyed them. Does anyone have any information?

Great news! Thanks for inquiring, problemdog. I was curious myself, but a bit too embarrassed to ask.

    That’s great, Boomer.

But can I admit that I’m glad it hasn’t started yet? Many of the films for consideration haven’t opened in Brazil yet, and I guess that’s probably the situation for other foreign posters too. So it’s nice we might get the chance to at least watch a few of them in time (at least I hope so)

I look forward to this year’s awards since they may be unpredictable and I believe they will be very different than the Oscars. “Lincoln” seems ahead there but its support here seems more lukewarm (my guess would be “Zero Dark Thirty” for best picture here). Could easily see Daniel Day Lewis being beaten for best actor here. A foreign actress may end up impressing our group more than Jennifer Lawrence or Jessica Chastain. Do not see Tommy Lee Jones exciting people here more than say one of the “Django” men or maybe somebody like Ezra Miller will swoop in for the win even though he is not even amongst the top 7 or 8 most likely Oscar nominees. It could be very cool and interesting this year.

Thanks Boomer.[/quote] Yes thank you Boomer! I’m sure that you and the rest of the staff are quite occupied with these forthcoming Oscar nominations, so thank you for your prompt response. I’m glad to hear that the awards will be coming soon!

Great thinking out loud. I sure hope so. Last time I checked, the majority of us are not covered in wool.

I think the surprising noms were more possible in the former format where we have to rank only three contenders each. But, I’m not complainign with what we have now. Excited for this one. Thanks for the update, Boomer!
