Hello goldderby members, some days ago I was watching something on TV, don’t remember if it was an “The Sopranos” episode or some movie and I had this Idea.

We could choose an old movie or a not so old one, and watch this movie, comment about it, it would be one movie per week, being like that, everyone willing to participate would have time to watch the movie of the week.

What you think? have better ideas? or better suggestions? Do you like it? Give your opinion here!

I think it’s a great idea — like a book club!  We can hold it at various members’ houses and serve those nice flavored coffees.  Kidding!  You would have to serve something stronger, like tequila.

Logistically, you would post a schedule weeks or months in advance so that those who need to rent the movie have time to locate a copy.

Yes, and the movies, since we are in Goldderby, would be movies that won the oscar, movies that came thisss close to win, movies that were snubbed… and of course we would have some time so people could rent it, or watch it online/Itunes or some other way, and then, a date set so everyone would start discussing about it.

    Edit:

Other Ideas: We could choose a director/writer and make a list of his films and vote in order to choose the film of the week.

This is such a great idea.  I would defintiely do it.  I would think many people on this board have Netflix Instant so that would probably be another good place to pick films from.

    I’m interested in doing this.

How are we going to pick the movies? Actor? Director? Year?

WoW, so far 3 people thats nice. We need at least two more to start it!!!

Thinking about the details here….What do you guys think we start in that order…Director….Actor….Actress.
So we pick a year, choose a director from that year that was in the oscar race or did win the oscars and watch it his movie.

I think a good year to start is the 40’s or the 50’s, I would love to start in the year of the first Academy Awards but I’m not so sure we would find a movie of that year to watch, it would be too much trouble.. What you guys think?

Sure, I’m in! It would make me feel obligated to track down the assigned films, so I won’t be able to put it off until the last moment. Good idea.

    1940: Directors

Gone with The Wind — Directed by Victor Fleming
Goodbye, Mr. Chips — Directed by Sam Wood
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington – Directed by Frank Capra
Stagecoach —  Directed by John Ford
Wuthering Heights – Directed by William Wyler

Which one of those Director’s films would you like to watch? No one? so gives us more choices! When everyone agrees to see a particular movie, we are good to go, but try to think of that as a challenge.

We could watch some Marilyn Monroe movies (maybe give her the first month).

She’s really hot right now with My Week with Marilyn and Smash.

Gone With The Wind or Stagecoach.  I think it’s difficult to find Wuthering Heights on dvd.

All right guys, keep voting, it will suck if we watch a movie that the majority doesn’t want to.
