I may or may not have already had a forum for this a while back but I always wondered what would happen if the Globes decided to split Supporting Actor and Actress into Drama and Comedy like they do for the Leads.

Ugh I wouldn’t like this at all. It would be doing too much and the Globes already stuff their shit in 3 hours of a corny show.

I wasn’t saying that they SHOULD at it and I agree it would be too long, but I am just curious who you think WOULD be nominated if they had them as categories.

In 2014 Edward Norton and Emma Stone would have each won Comedy Globes for Birdman, and in 2013 Lupita Nyong’o would have won for Drama Supporting Actress, with either Bradley Cooper or Jonah Hill winning Comedy Supporting Actor.

I like this idea because I don’t think comedic scene stealers get enough credit. It would also prevent people like Christian Bale going lead for The Big Short and supporting everywhere else

Monique looks pretty good in her upcoming Christmas film. Could be worthy.

Supporting performers need to be honored more – I’ve never understood why they split the leads but not the supporting players, given the fact that there are wayyyy more supporting roles in movies than leads?

Not to mention the leads trying to push their names in the supporting ballots through category fraud!

Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama
    Mahershala Ali / MOONLIGHT
Jeff Bridges / HELL OR HIGH WATER
Ben Foster / HELL OR HIGH WATER
    Dev Patel / LION
Aaron Taylor Johnson / NOCTURNAL ANIMALS

Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical
Greta Gerwig / 20TH CENTURY WOMEN
    Margo Martindale / THE HOLLARS
Kyra Sedgwick / THE EDGE OF SEVENTEEN
    Molly Shannon / OTHER PEOPLE
    Rachel Weisz / THE LOBSTER

Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama
    Viola Davis / FENCES
    Naomie Harris / MOONLIGHT
    Nicole Kidman / LION
    Octavia Spencer / HIDDEN FIGURES
