Wel not every award. I am one of the biggest Gone Girl supporters and I was very disappointed when I learned it was only nominated once. But I was very surprised that it wasn’t even nominated for ADAPTED SCREENPLAY. In all honesty, that was the one awards we all thought had it in the bag!
But I thought about this, Gillian Flynn won the Critic’s Choice award last night for her screenplay. She is also nominated for BAFTA, WGA, and Satellite and also won the HFA. Will the snub help her or hurt her?
Because the Academy snubbed not only her but alot of people, does it help them win other awards? I personally think the snub won’t hurt her but what do you think?
I don’t think she’ll win at BAFTA. And I have Sniper winning WGA. Captain Phillips won last year and Sniper reminds me of that situation. I’m not sure if Gone Girl will win anything at the satellite either?
I think The Theory of Everything will win the BAFTA.
WGA could well be Flynn’s. The Satellite too.
If Gone Girl continues to win precursors, the only film that stands to benefit from it is Whiplash. Any other nominee could be propelled by precursor victories, but Whiplash is Original everywhere else, so it has to hope that Sniper and Imitation a Game don’t pick up momentum.
