There’s a thread for actors who are going to win Oscars in the near future. I think its time that we start discussing those great and/or established actors who we know are never going to win themselves acting Oscars because they’re never going to find the right vehicle to win or there’s just going to be better and/or buzzier (if thats a word) competition.
I’ll get the ball rolling:
Helena Bonham Carter
Discuss?April 16, 2012 at 2:38 pm #60087
Leo DiCaprio? He’s gonna win one day, maybe even next year for either ‘Gatsby’ or ‘Django’.April 16, 2012 at 2:42 pm #60088
jeez talk about depressing…….. a thread about actors who will never get an oscar.April 16, 2012 at 2:56 pm #60089

LOL… Not to mention that with the right role, ANYONE can win pretty much.April 16, 2012 at 3:00 pm #60090
I guess I phrased the question wrong, but what I mean is that which of today’s top actors are just never going to win an Oscar because they’re never gonna find the right vehicle or there will always be better comptition. I fixed the first post.
I also somehow mixed up Leonardo Dicaprio and Johnny Depp. My bad…April 16, 2012 at 3:25 pm #60091
Emma Stone will certainly win one day. Helena Bonham Carter also will get her due eventually.
I thought this thread was going to be about small-name actors like Octavia Spencer was before this year. If that’s the case, I’m going to go with Misty Upham.April 16, 2012 at 3:42 pm #60092
I think Emma Stone should get one, but not now. maybe in like 5+ years.April 16, 2012 at 3:57 pm #60093
A BITTER PILL INDEED: Peter O’Toole, Max von Sydow, Leonardo DiCaprio, Glenn Close, Julianne Moore, Annette Bening, Sigourney Weaver, etc., still don’t have an Oscar, but Jamie Foxx does?
If you saw any of Foxx’s movies (other than RAY), you might come to the conclusion that he would never win an Oscar. If Foxx can win, then ANYBODY can win. Except, apparently, Peter O’Toole, Max von Sydow, Leonardo DiCaprio, Glenn Close, Julianne Moore, Annette Bening, Sigourney Weaver, etc.April 16, 2012 at 4:05 pm #60094
I know an Oscar isn’t the only marker of a successful career and a talented actor, but it still hurts to say that Laura Linney will likely go Oscar-less. That she’s now a regular on pay-cable would be the strongest sign that her “awardable” days in movies are behind her.April 16, 2012 at 4:21 pm #60095
Much of it has to do with opportunity. Material. Impact. And leading ladies over 40 are, for the most part, screwed.April 16, 2012 at 4:24 pm #60096
Gena Rowlands will never get one and i’m so sad.April 16, 2012 at 4:36 pm #60097
William H. Macy, Stockard Channing and Miranda Richardson will never win an Oscar, even though they are amazing actors and I love them so much.
Despite her talent and versatility, I think it will be very difficult for Helena Bonham Carter to win. Lately I’ve also started wondering whether Ralph Fiennes will ever win.April 16, 2012 at 4:41 pm #60098
Liv Ullman, Max von Sydow, Isabelle Huppert and Gena Rowlands.April 16, 2012 at 4:55 pm #60099
Donald SutherlandApril 16, 2012 at 5:26 pm #60100
If Jamie Foxx, Mo’Nique, and someone who made their runs on Wizards of Waverly Place before like Octavia Spencer, can win an Oscar than I think anyone (who can put up a worthy enough performance) can win one. (Sorry didn’t mean to put them all based on race.)
I can picture Tom Cruise never getting nominated though. He doesn’t seem like the type they go for, nor is that good of an actor.
