Catherine Zeta-Jones – All That Jazz and I Can’t do it Alone, also Cell Block Tango in Chicago

Julie Andrews – The Sound of Music in Sound of Music

Barbra Streisand – My Man in Funny Girl is probably the most incredible of all time, imo.

Judy Garland – A Star Is Born

In particular when she sings The Man That Got Away

Mabel King when she sings Don’t Bring Me No Bad News from The Wiz.

    MYSELF in Thoroughly Modern Millie!
    MYSELF in Alice in Wonderland!

    and

Bjork (Dancer in the Dark)–How she did not get an acting nomination is BEYOND me!
    Topol (Fiddler on the Roof)
    Amy Adams (Enchanted)
    Renee Zellwegger (Chicago)
Whoopi Goldberg (Sister Act)–Not really a musical.. But I just wanted to give this performance some props!
    Howard Da Silva (1776)
Norma Crane (Fiddler on the Roof)
Robert Morse (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying)
Peggy Wood (The Sound of Music)
Deborah Kerr (The King and I)
    Gloria Graham (Oklahoma!)
Ashley Tisdale (The High School Musical Trilogy)–Don’t hate.  She’s terrific in them.
    Carol Burnett (Annie

I’m leaving out the performances that won Oscars.

Jennifer Hudson in Dreamgirls (“And I am Telling You…”)

I love musical film with a passion…but I can’t think of a more explosive performance.

I will make a prediction that Anne Hathaway’s redition of “I Dreamed a Dream” or Hugh Jackman/Russell Crowe’s redition of “The Confentation” in Les Miserables.

Also if Sunset Boulevard every gets made with Close that whole musical performance will be memorable.

Other upcoming musicals: Gypsy (Barbra Streisand), Get Happy (Anne Hathaway [if she sings]), A Star is Born (Beyonce).
