As regular Derbyites know, we have a team of tech wizards working feverishly behind the scenes while building up the new, amazing Gold Derby that we plan to launch in April. You’ll see exciting new page designs and graphics. Also, the coding of pages (including these forums) will be up to date and very mobile friendly.

But we’re stumped over one page and we can really use your help. How do you suggest we can breathe excitement into this page of data?

I want to keep it very data-rich. I don’t want big photos here, but we all do want to have the page come to life, be vibrant. I’m not a sports fan so I don’t know how sports sites jazz up similar data pages. If you know of page treatments around the web that we should look to for inspiration, please provide the links here. Also, please share your ideas in words.

Will we be able to upvote posts on mobile?(That is SO important. Please add. Not being able to support my fave posts just hurts and causes me posting needless posts such as “Yes!” “You’re right lol” and “THIS” and decreases the quality and subtlety of this forum in general…)

Yes, I believe we will. The new forums will have lots of sophisticated functionality, including badges, etc.

Well for starters, I’ve been trying to get a new avatar and it hasn’t been working for me. Think you guys can fix that?

There needs to be a better way to organize the forums. They are such a sloppy mess ever since the more looser rules happened with multiple posts about the same topic. It really is just repetitive and hard to navigate to new fresh topics. At least make the search button bigger and more consistent in detecting duplicate threads. Just being away from the site for 24 hours takes a good 3 hours to get through the cycle of threads made that day. I don’t know if there is a way to make a master thread for a movie or an awards category and create a drop down menu like with the main page where you can scroll over the word “Forum” and have options of categories. For example: Mad Max can be a scroll over topic and a list of “How many Oscars will it win”, “Personal Reviews and Thoughts on the movie”, “Will Charlize Theron be nominated?” could be possible examples of options to hit. I don’t know, just very OCD about navigating through threads that propose similar topics that have been discussed all throughout the year repeatedly being made over and over again.

Tom has confirmed that the tech people are aware of the profile photo problem. Hopefully it’s an easy fix.

The predicted winner should be shaded gold instead of white.
